Liverpool have reportedly given up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.
The Reds were keen on signing Bellingham this summer after identifying the Englishman as the face of their new project.
But new reports on Tuesday claim that Jurgen Klopp’s men have dramatically decided to pull out of the race to sign the youngster as they prioritise a significant squad rebuild instead.
According to a report by GOAL, the financial outlay needed to sign Bellingham this summer convinced Liverpool to abandon the deal and seek cheaper alternatives that would benefit the entire team.
Borussia Dortmund had placed a £120 million ($149m) price tag on the 19-year-old, who has two years left on his contract but who is expected to look to move clubs at the end of the season.
Liverpool believe they could get two or three other quality players with that amount and have taken the early and pragmatic decision to focus on a group of signings this summer rather than one stellar addition who would blow their entire kitty.
Klopp and the Liverpool transfer team have identified Chelsea’s Mason Mount as a possible alternative to Bellingham. The England midfielder will cost way less than Dortmund want for Bellingham, given that he has a year left on his contract at Chelsea and wants to leave Stamford Bridge. As a result, the Blues will be forced to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Wolves’ Matheus Nunes is understood to have cooled. Still, Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella, Bayern’s Ryan Gravenberch, Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners and Luka Sucic of Salzburg are all admired.
Manchester United are reportedly planning to sell as many as 13 players this summer in order to properly replenish Erik ten Hag’s squad.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils are keen on a squad overhaul, and have identified at least 13 players that they consider dead weight, who could be sold this summer to generate funds for a squad rebuild.
Erik ten Hag’s side are currently facing ownership uncertainty and are also walking a tightrope with Financial Fair Play given their incredibly bloated squad.
But they are now planning to address their squad size and are ready to move on over a dozen first team players and popular names.
Cheif among those that could be sold is Annthony Elanga. The Swede has attracted plenty of interest, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly keen. Also, defender Eric Bailly is also seti to be moved on at the end of his unsuccessful loan spell at Marseille.
Ivorian youngster Amad Diallo is set to be given a chance in the first team next season, while Facundo Pellistri could then be sent on loan for further experience, following his breakthrough season at Old Trafford.
United could also try to sell club captain Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek.
The club has transfer targets in mind and have already spoken to the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong, giving new transfer negotiator Matt Hargreaves plenty to get busy with over the coming months
Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barea this summer.
The Reds are in the market this summer for a midfielder as they are determined to strengthen that department of their team, given that they have struggled massively in that area this season.
They have long been linked with Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, but they face fierce competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City for the signature of the England international.
Apart from Bellingham, Brighton star Moises Caicedo is also a target. But the Ecuadorian has been linked with a number of top Premier League sides and might elude Jurgen Klopp’s side given that they might not qualify for the Champions League next season.
According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Liverpool have now placed Barella at the top of Klopp’s wishlist of midfield reinforcements along with Bellingham and Caicedo.
But as it the case with Bellingham and Caicedo, the Premier League side could face competition in the race for Barella. Chelsea are reportedly interested in the 26-year-old, although the Blues might be restrixyed by finances given their £600m spending spree across the last two transfer windows.
It’s expected that Barella would cost Liverpool around £65m – a hefty fee, though potentially cheaper than what they could sign Bellingham or Caicedo for. The Italian is happy with life at the San Siro and is contracted there until 2026.
But Inter could be forced to sell if a big offer comes in for their midfielder.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has likened Erling Haaland to five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and his eternal rival Lionel Messi.
The Norwegian striker has been in hot form since joining Man City from Borussia Dortmund last summer. He is already City’s all-time leading goalscorer in a single season, having scored twice in his side’s 4-1 over Southampton on Saturday.
That brace took his tally in the Premier League this season to 30 in only 27 appearances. With nine games still to play in the PL this season, Haaland could score ten more goals, given his current ratio of goals per game.
That would put the Norwegian on 40 goals this season. Should he achieve that, he would smash the existing single-season Premier League record of 32 goals held by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
Speaking after the game against Southampton on Saturday, Haaland’s coach Pep Guardiola quickly praised the superstar’s goal-scoring ability, comparing him to Ronaldo and Messi. However, he insisted that the Argentine was a more complete player.
“In terms of the thesis of scoring goals. He’s quite similar in terms of Cristiano, but Messi is the more complete player,” Guardiola explained.
“Messi can play wherever while Cristiano and Erling are machines. Erling knows those two guys dominated over two decades, not just one or two seasons, winning titles and doing everything. Football is a better place for Cristiano and Messi for what they have done for our business and the traction of these two guys competing at the big clubs.
“Erling is arriving in the toughest league in the world. I can talk as I’ve been in other leagues, and doing what he has done is remarkable.”
The Catalan coach worked extensively with Messi at Barca and is better placed than most to directly compare Haaland to the World Cup winner. And according to Pep, it seems that Haaland has the edge on the all-time great in terms of his positive mindset.
“Haaland is always happy, always smiling. Lionel Messi scored two but not three and was a bit sad because he didn’t score the third!” Guardiola explained.
“Erling is all the time in an incredible mood. Even in the bad moments at the beginning of this season, when people said he couldn’t adapt, he arrived at training with a big smile and said hi to everyone. He has had an incredible impact, not just on the pitch.
“Every day in training sessions, in the locker room. I have the feeling that he is so happy with us. He never complains about [being taken off]. He respects me a lot.”
Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly has insisted he wants to remain at the club despite uncertainty around his future at Stamford Bridge.
The Senegal defender has not enjoyed a comfortable season, with Chelsea struggling. Since joining from Napoli last summer, Koulibaly has played 20 Premier League games as the Blues sit 11th in the table.
The Senegalese centre-back spent eight years at Napoli before switching to Stamford Bridge for a reported 33 million Euro deal. He was one of Todd Boehly’s first signings as Chelsea owner and scored on his home debut against Tottenham.
While he has admitted he has not been in the best form, the defender insists he wants to remain at Chelsea for as long as possible.
“I know I’m not at 100 per cent yet, but I think I’m coming to my level,” he said.
“Chelsea made a big decision to sign me, and there’s a big desire in me to give back. I want to be part of this club for many years. This is not the year Chelsea were expecting, but sometimes when you have big changes, new proprietors, and half the team is new, everybody has to adapt.
“But we know how big the ambition is here, and we’re going to work to win back the confidence of the supporters.”
In his short time at Stamford Bridge, Koulibaly has seen three managerial changes, with Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard all brought in his nine months at the club. He will be hoping that after his side’s 1-0 loss to Wolves in Lampard’s return, his side will be able to get back to form as they target a top-seven finish.

FC Dallas has had a hard time going back to winning even if they’ve not had an entirely bad season. Playing against Miami will make this challenge more difficult.
Dallas has played two winless matches, with one loss and one draw, still, they are in playoff positions within the Western Conference, ranking 6th place with 8 points so far.
Spanish coach Nico Estevez, guided FC Dallas’ offense to score one goal in 5 of their 6 matches played thus far. But, their defense is the problem, it has failed to perform, giving up at least 1 goal in every match this season.
On road performances, Dallas still waits for a three-pointer after drawing 1-1 against the Vancouver Whitecaps and losing to LAFC in a 2-1 match.
Possible Lineup: (4-3-3): Maarten Paes; Geovane, Nkosi Tafari, Sebastian Ibeagha, Marco Farfan, Paxton Pomykal, Edwin Cerrillo, Sebastian Lletget, Paul Arriola, Jesus Ferreira, Alan Velasco.

Miami and Dallas desperately need to get three points after a series of games without doing this, so, they’ll go all out to secure victory in this match. Inter may have struggled with defense, their failure has only been during road games.
At home, they’ve scored two goals in all of their three matches, and they will do it again today.
Dallas’ defense has allowed one goal in all games played this season, while their attack has scored easily too. They are the guest that conceded 6 goals in their previous four matches.
These teams have faced each other only twice in history, and they both scored up to one goal.

They sit on top of the Eastern Conference after gathering 14 out of what may be 18 points. The most recent match ended in a 1-0 victory against Inter Miami, which was the second win in a row by this scoreline.
Cincinnati’s success is thanks to a series of solid defensive plays, as they are the second MLS East team with the lowest number of conceded goals, with just 4 against. Playing at home can help them maintain their undefeated status, as they have 6 wins in their 7 official home games and won 3-1 against Philadelphia Union the last time.
Possible Lineup (3-4-1-2): Roman Celentano, Nick Hagglund, Matthew Miazga, Yerson Mosquera, Raymon Gaddis, Marco Angulo, Junior Moreno, Alvaro Barreal, Luciano Acosta, Brandon Vazquez, Brenner.

Philadelphia Union haven’t played up to expectations for a club that was runner-up last MLS season. Although they won two of their first 3 matches, Philadelphia Union is now in the middle of a 3-game winless streak, after a goalless draw against Sporting Kansas City in the last fixture.
Having kicked off today’s game in 8th position in the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia will want to go back to winning against a club they’ve lost to just once in their 9 official clashes. But, it won’t be easy, especially since they’ve come at a complicated moment and are 6-winless games away from home.
Possible Lineup: (4-3-1-2): Andre Blake, Olivier Mbaizo, Jakob Glesnes, Jack Elliott, Real Matthew, Jose Martinez, Leon Flach, Alejandro Bedoya, Daniel Gazdag, Julian Carranza, Mikael Uhre.

Philadelphia has struggled with their attack this season, and they haven’t scored in 4 of their past 6 road games. This may make it hard for them to beat Cincinnati’s ironclad defense at the home stadium.
But, Cincinnati has struggled with offense too, scoring one goal in their last two wins. The host might emerge victorious and this matchup will be a close one, with both teams vying for smooth goal-scoring opportunities and few goals scored.
Bayern Munich full-back Joao Cancelo has insisted that “his heart is in the right place” and is not worried, claiming that his Bayern career has been “positive” despite struggling to get minutes.
The Portuguese international sealed a move to the Allianz Arena in a short-term loan deal in January. The agreement includes a permanent purchase option after the first six months.
However, things have not gone as planned for Cancelo, who has struggled to find his feet in his new surroundings and fell down the pecking order under former manager Julian Nagelsmann.
A change in management did not immediately transform his fortunes as new boss Thomas Tuchel benched him in his first game in charge against Borussia Dortmund in Bundesliga. However, despite his struggles in Germany, Cancelo has stated that he is putting everything in training to turn around his fortunes and can “always be counted upon”.
“I see my start at Bayern as positive. There’s always a certain adjustment period for footballers. That’s why I tried to integrate myself into the team as quickly as possible, to get to know the teammates & the system,’ he told the official club website.
“Sometimes it is said that I may not have a very simple personality. But my heart is in the right place,” he added.
“And you can always count on me. Everyone and everything at FC Bayern is focused on absolute success. Here you work really hard in every single training session – I really like this mentality. I’m happy to be here and to play for this great team.”
Despite not getting enough minutes in Germany, Bayern rate Cancelo highly, and the club’s director Hasan Salihamidzic has insisted that “Cancelo is a top player” and “will get his games.”
Lazio will look to continue their impressive run of form when they welcome Juventus to Stadio Olimpico this Saturday.
The Rome-based club are currently of the most in-form teams in the Serie A, as they come into this tie on a run of six league games without defeat. Furthermore, each of those results came without Lazio conceding a goal, helping them to the number one spot as the club with the best defence in the Italian top flight this season.
It’s been a remarkable turnaround for Lazio, who ended last season with the second-worst defensive record in the top half. At the same time, Maurizio Sarri‘s men now boast the division‘s best defensive record, with only 19 goals conceded.
Back-to-back Serie A wins ‘to nil’ have seen them strengthen their grip on second place as they start this round with a four-point cushion over the chasing pack. Carrying such form, it seems like a great time to face a Juventus side they’ve beaten just once here across the last eleven H2Hs (D2, L8).
Given six of Lazio’s eight Serie A home wins this term came without conceding, another solid defensive display should be expected here, but considering the last time Lazio beat Juventus without conceding was back in 2004, that certainly isn’t a foregone conclusion.
Despite being slapped with a 15-point deduction, Juventus are gradually pulling themselves back into the top-four race with solid results in the league.
The Old Lady come into this tie on a run of three straight Serie A wins, taking them to seventh position, only six points behind the Champions League spots. So they would interestingly be four points clear of Lazio in second if not for the ban, and coach Massimiliano Allegri will be eager to confirm his side’s theoretical ‘second-place’ status that results have merited with an eye-catching result here.
However, something will have to change for them to achieve that, as the visitors have lost three of their four Serie A away matches against current top-six sides (W1) this season.
Meanwhile, Juve has won the first half ‘to nil‘ in four straight H2Hs and will be backed to produce a low-scoring encounter. That said, an under 2.5 goals bet is the best prediction for this game.

Columbus Crew enters the match after a decent, yet steady start to the 2023 MLS season. In the last game against Real Salt Lake Utah, they won 4-0 at home.
They managed a lead from the 14th minute in what turned out to be a phenomenal night for Aidan Morris who scored a brace and boosted the Crew’s confidence to withstand the attacks from the Utah squad. From beginning to end, Columbus dominated the game, with a 60% possession percentage.
This new chance fits Wilfried Nancy’s plans as he gradually adjusts to the club’s needs. He has proven himself a master at attack in previous seasons, and there is no reason to expect less from him during his time at Columbus.
Possible Lineup (3-4-3): Patrick Schulte, Steven Moreira, Milos Degenek, Gustavo Vallecilla, Mohamed Farsi, Darlington Nagbe, Aidan Morris, William Sands, Alexandru Matan, Lucas Zelarayán, Christian Ramírez.

The matchup between DC United and Columbus Crew has the guests as the team to score the most points. The Crew showed strength this season. The team’s strikers adapted to Nancy’s playing style and are now 4th in the Eastern Conference, scoring 10 goals in their last 2 games.
Due to their shocking improvement and the problems DC United is battling, experts predict that Columbus will go home with a large number of points.
