Johan Bakayoko seems to remain at PSV Eindhoven for the rest of the season despite interest from Manchester United. Bakayoko has been of the outstanding players in PSV in a remarkable first half of the season, with his displays attracting attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Liverpool and Brentford have been monitoring him since th summer, with the latter offering a club-record of £38.5 million only to be rejected by him. Bakayoko chosen to stay in Eindhoven have apparently been vindicated, with clubs like Manchester and Tottenham now joining this list of teams interested in getting him onboard. United boos Erik ten Hag is eager to boost his attacking options; with his team being the third-lowest scorers in the Premier League and Bakayoko’s stunning form, scoring four times and delivering nine assists in all competitions, has caught his eye. But, according to reports from Dutch newspaper Eindohvens Dagblad, Bakayoko is highly unlikely to leave PSV this campaign and instead wants to continue his development at the club. The reason he shunned Brentford in the summer was to ensure he got regular game time and to also witness the Champions League, playing in all six group matches as PSV advanced to the knockout stages as runners-up trailing Arsenal. PSV will face Borussia Dortmund in the last 16, a fixture that looks easy to win, and Bakayoko wants to keep testing his skills in Europe. Per reports by ED, John has no ‘no intention at all’ of leaving PSV despite high interest from the Premier League and is focused on playing will for Eindhoven. Likewise, PSV is not accepting any bids for Bakayoko this month and feel he is significant to their Champions League season and chase of a first league title since 2018. Rumours of a January move are being referred to as ‘nonsense’ by Bakayoko’s management, and he feels his growth will be better by staying with PSV for the rest of the campaign. Johan is presently in Estepona in Spain for PSV’s winter training camp where they will play two friendlies before the resumption of the Eredivisie season on January 13 against Excelsior. PSV threatens to clinch the title and presently has a 10-point lead at the top of the table ahead of reigning champions Feyenoord, with under-performing Ajax 23 points behind their opponents. Bakayoko has a total of three goals and eight assists from 14 Eredivisie starts, a significant contribution every 107 minutes but it is his dribbling and ability to defeat players that makes him impressive. Johan who also wants to secure a spot in Belgium’s squad for the Euros next summer, has completed the most successful dribbles (53) in the Eredivisie, with his tally over twice that of the next best (team-mate Sergino Dest). Per reports by Voetbal International, Georges Mikautadze might be leaving Ajax in January. Ajax spent €16 million to sign the Georgian striker in the summer from Metz, but he has barely featured so far in Amsterdam.  Ajax players; Brian Brobbey and Chuba Akpom are ahead of Mikautadze in the pecking order and he has been played out of position on the wing. In 248 minutes, the forward has not yet delivered a goal or assist. Now Voetbal International reports that FC Metz hopes to bring back Mikautadze to the club in January on a loan. English Premier League side Tottenham have recently set their sights on PSV Eindhoven striker Johan Bakayoko.  According to Sky Sports, Hotspur is following Bakayoko, although they are ready to wait until the summer for the Belgian to be ready. Tottenham presently has some injury problems, with people like James Maddison, Richarlison, Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon all absent.  Despite this, the club has had a strong start to the season, with 26 points in twelve matches. They are presently in fourth position on the table. Johan’s contract with PSV Eindhoven will run until the summer of 2026. Napoli has also reportedly shown interest in Bakayoko. After an eventful 1-1 draw against Manchester City, Liverpool will pay £8.5m to Portugal side Benfica for their striker Darwin Nunez who just appeared in his 60th game for the club.  The Uruguayan native joined Klopp’s side for a transfer to the tune of £8.5m, of which £64m was fixed and £21m in add-ons, of which £8.5m had to paid when Nunez plays 60 matches for his new team. The ex-Almeria striker has scored 22 goals and provided 10 assist in his 60 official appearances for The Reds, 36 of them starts. Nunez who was previously with Benfica has had a strong start this season, registering 12 goals and seven assists in 16 starts for club and control so far. Dutch giant Ajax fell to the bottom of the Eredivisie table on Sunday after they blew a half-time lead in a 5-2 defeat by PSV Eindhoven. The 36-time Dutch champions, who fired coach Maurice Steijn before they lost to Brighton in the Europa League, took a fifth consecutive defeat in the Dutch top flight for the first time in their history. Ajax has witnessed a slow descent from grace since former coach Erik Ten Hag left for Manchester United in 2022, before coming undone this season. “Ajax is now last in the Eredivisie with only five measly points,” said a statement on the Ajax supporters’ club website. “That hurts a lot. Still, we can draw some strength from the first half in Eindhoven. The players showed that they can indeed play football. “Hopefully, that will give us some confidence in the coming weeks, where Ajax will have to climb out of the depths.” Branco van den Boomen gifted Ajax a perfect start in their first league match under interim boss Hedwiges Maduro before Brian Brobbey brought back their advantage after Hirving Lozano’s equaliser for PSV. But the visitors were hacked to pieces in the second half at Philips Stadion, as goals from Luuk de Jong and Ismael Saibari placed the guests in front less than seven minutes after the resumption. Mexican international Lozano contributed two more goals to complete his hat-trick. Ajax is now trail second-bottom Utrecht by two points, after gathering only five points from their first eight matches. Meanwhile, PSV is five points clear of AZ Alkmaar at the top after beginning the league season with 10 straight wins. AZ’s game against Nijmegen ended in injury time after Nijmegen striker Bas Dost fell on the pitch and was carried off with a stretcher. Dost later regained consciousness and greeted the fans.
