Whitecaps Axel Schuster’s decision to part ways with Vanni Sartini last November raised eyebrows, but a month into the 2025 season, it looks like the right move.
Under new head coach Jesper Sørensen, Vancouver Whitecaps FC remains MLS’s only perfect team (4W-0L-0D) and sits atop the Western Conference and Supporters’ Shield standings. They’ve also stunned in the Concacaf Champions Cup, knocking out Saprissa and Monterrey to reach the quarterfinals—all while missing key players, including star attacker Ryan Gauld.
