Liverpool’s defensive struggle is well known, and almost everyone thinks it would make sense for them to change their whole back line except their manager.

Jurgen Klopp has continually defended his defenders who have been unimpressive compared to their forward four.

However, it seem Klopp could heed the cry of many of the club’s fans and sign a new defender next month.

According to The Sun, Klopp has identified Atletico’s Sime Vrsaljko as the defender that could save his team from their defensive problems.

The Croat has been one of the best defenders in Europe since he moved to Atletico in the summer of 2016. However, he has found it hard to displace Juanfran in the Spanish team’s line up.

This season he has made just 4 league appearances, and a combination of injuries and the form of Juanfran has limited him to just 20 appearances for Atleti since he joined them.

Sime Vrsaljko who has been capped 27 times by Croatia is also interesting AS Napoli, but he may be tempted by riches and popularity of Liverpool and the Premier League.

Liverpool still have Joel Matip out injured and Dejan Lovren is still not convincing, the Reds have failed to win any of their last two home games.

Vrsaljko is currently rated at £20 million.
