Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has been accused of perjury by a court in his home country.

The Croatian defender is accused of lying under oat while giving a testimony in a corruption case that he was implicated due to his transfer to Olympic Lyon from Dynamo Zagreb.

He is due to appear in court on Tuesday to clarify his testimony.

According to the Sun, a public prosecutor spoke to them claiming:

“The county prosecutor’s office in Osijek is investigating Dejan Lovren on a suspicion of giving a false testimony.”

The case is believed to be a part of the ongoing investigation into £14 million corruption case against former Dynamo Zagreb boss Zdravko Mamic.

This is just one of Dejan Lovren’s many problems as the defender has continued to struggle on the field with the Reds.

With the arrival of Virgil van Dijk, many fans and analyst expect the Croatian  to see less action in a Liverpool shirt.

The Reds are also looking to sign Manuel Akanji next summer.
