Chelsea have made a fresh approach to sign Ross Barkley from Everton.

The Blues were close to signing the England attacking midfielder last summer, he had reportedly even gone to London for a medical on deadline day.

However, Barkley surprisingly changed his mind at the last minute and decided to get fit first before reassessing his future.

The Blues had agreed a £35 Million deal with the Toffees at the time, however, they would be looking to sign for a much cheaper price now.

According to The Sun, Chelsea made a fresh approach for his signature last night with an offer believed to be around £20 million.

Barkley has just six months left in his current Everton deal and there is no hope of him signing a new deal after he told the Toffees he wanted a new challenge.

He has not played any game this season, but he has returned to fitness.

Tottenham are also interested in signing Barkley, and it is believed that they are his first choice, however, Chelsea are looking to steal a march on their London rivals and they would be hoping he decides to join them this month.
