Real Madrid will look to bounce back from their El Classico defeat when they travel to Estadio Benito Villamarín to face top-four hopefuls Real Betis.
The hosts want to make it four consecutive league wins after recording three straight wins against Almería, Valladolid and Elche. But all three wins were against smaller sides, so they must again try to beat the reigning champions, who they lost to in the reverse fixture, to make it four in a row.
But given that they have only beaten Madrid once in the last eight home H2Hs (D1, L6), another tough test awaits. A return of just one win in their last six home league games (D2, L3) also suggests that Real Madrid will record a direct win here.
But for all their quality, Madrid aren’t firing on all cylinders at the moment. The visitors come into this tie off the back of a 1-0 loss to their fierce rivals Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final.
That loss was another blow to their already slim hopes of landing a quintuple this season, given they trailed their rivals by seven points in the league following the last matchday. However, having lost three of their last seven away league games (W4), they cannot afford another loss here if they want to keep pressure on the leaders.
