Federico Chiesa has turned down a move to Fenerbahce, according to reports from Italy, as interest from Serie A clubs continues to build.
The Liverpool winger struggled for game time last season under Arne Slot, managing just two goals and one assist in 14 appearances. Slot left him out of the club’s pre-season tour, raising questions about his future at Anfield.
CalcioMercato reports that Fenerbahce, now managed by Jose Mourinho, attempted to lure the 26-year-old to Turkey, but Chiesa rejected the offer, opting to wait for a return to Serie A.
Signed from Juventus for €15 million (£13m), Chiesa admitted in June that it had been a tough debut season. Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, he said: “The desire to play was there, but I put it aside. I understood the situation. I put aside every form of individualism.”
Italian clubs are expected to step up their pursuit in the coming weeks.
