These two sides would be competing at the World cup later this year in Russia, while they are not favourites in any way, they both look capable of causing upsets when the competition commences. After the last round of friendly games, Peru looked more prepared than Iceland as they ran our 2-0 victors over Croatia while Iceland were beaten 3-0 by Mexico in Miami.
They have both never met before, but Peru looks the bookie’s favourite to win this game based on recent form. Iceland also have a major disadvantage as they have been without arguably their best player, Gylfi Sigurdsson who is out with an injury. The tiny Island nation faces a major challenge of lack of players as they have a very small pool of players to pick from, so in the event of injuries or suspension of their key players, they could have a dismal showing at the World Cup.
Peru are unbeaten in their last 11 games and 7 of those matches have ended in wins for them and that win over a nearly full strength Croatia side would have boosted their confidence even more even though they were dominated in possession by the Europeans
