Ex-Broncos DT, pro wrestler Darren Drozdov dies at 54

Darren Drozdov, a former NFL player who played for the Denver Broncos before becoming a professional wrestler, died Friday, his family made the announcement through World Wrestling Entertainment. He was 54. According to his family, Drozdov died due to natural causes. He had been a quadriplegic since October of 1999 after he got paralyzed performing in the ring. Drozdov played for the Broncos from 1993-1994, competing in six career games with two starts for Denver in ‘93. He played collegiately at Maryland, with stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets organizations. “We’re saddened by the passing of Darren Drozdov, who played for the Broncos from 1993-94 before becoming a @WWE wrestler,” the Broncos said in a statement. “‘Droz’ embodied the spirit of perseverance & determination through adversity, and our hearts go out to his family.” When his NFL days ended, the ex-Broncos tried his hand at the World Wrestling Federation, starting in 1998. Early in his career, he was dubbed “Puke” a name which he got after he was caught on video during his football days vomiting on the field. He had an unforgettable scene in the wrestling documentary “Beyond the Mat’’ when owner and chairman Vince McMahon requested that he upchuck on command.  Haven joined the WWF during the so-called “Attitude Era’’, Drozdov gained his biggest notoriety when he joined the Legion of Doom (also known as the Road Warriors), one of professional wrestling’s most renowned tag teams of all time. I’ve learned to live again, and my life is far from over.’” Related News: Steelers to become NFL’s top defense with healthy T.J. Watt

t.j. watt boosts steelers defense

Steelers to become NFL’s top defense with healthy T.J. Watt

Patrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs quarterback may have received his second career Associated Press Most Valuable Player last season, but, no player was more valuable to his team than T.J. Watt the Steelers pass rusher. The Pittsburgh Steelers permitted the lowest total yards per game (272.9) in the NFL from Weeks 10-18 after Watt came back from a torn pectoral and knee injury – more than 100 yards less than the Steelers allowed without him, according to reports from NFL Research.  Does a healthy Watt make Pittsburgh one of the best defenses in the NFL? An in-depth look into the numbers provided by NFL Research gives an emphatic yes. Last year, the Steelers rallied down the stretch for a 9-8 record, preserving their playoff hopes until Week 18. There were a lot of reasons for their emergence, but Watt’s presence was the biggest. In his absence in 2022, Pittsburgh was a dismal 1-6. With Watt in 2022, Pittsburgh was a sterling 8-2. The Steelers led by Watt permitted only 16.9 per game and 288.8 total yards, posting 32 sacks and 18 takeaways in 10 games. The Watt-less Steelers allowed 25.3 points a match, 389.9myards and tallied only 8 sacks and 5 takeaways in 7 contests. Only Patrick Queen, linebacker of the Ravens and Watt (5.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, 12 QB hits, two interceptions and a forced fumble) had five-plus sacks, multiple picks and a forced fumble in 2022. And this was just within 10 weeks of playing time. Watt’s showing a season ago was only a sample size of what he has been up to for a six-year career where he made five Pro Bowls, three All-Pro squads and get 2021 Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year. Simply put, Watt is off to have one of the biggest starts for a pass rusher in NFL history. Since 2017 when he made his debut as a rookie first-rounder, he has led the NFL in sacks (77.5), plus a record-tying 22.5 in 2021, QB hits (162) and forced fumbles (23), per NFL Research. T.J.’s averaging 0.89 sacks per game in his career which is the highest in league history (minimum 50 games).  Those 77.5 sacks not just put him in a Hall of Fame trajectory, but makes him a shoo-in for the third player in NFL chronicle to notch 100 career sacks before his 30th birthday. Watt does not hit the big 3-oh until October 11, 2024, and by then, he might have reached the air importance gotten only by Hall of Famer Reggie White and Jared Allen. It comes as no surprise that the Steelers are better with Watt in the lineup, but just how massive his impact is is unbelievable. He makes a difference indeed. hendon hooker is qb3

2023 NFL draft: Why Hendon Hooker is QB3

After being away from the spotlight for much of the NFL pre-draft process, quarterback Hendon Hooker has been selected as one of the hottest names in the 2023 draft class.  The Tennessee star’s recovery from a season-ending knee injury prevented him from impressing scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine and the Volunteers’ pro day, but it appears draftniks are catching up on his tape because he has been rising in the ranks lately. Ex-NFL player and scout Bucky Brooks has been on Hooker’s bandwagon for months now, placing him in the ranks behind Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud but ahead of Will Levis and Anthony Richardson in his Top 5 lists. As a skilled QB prospect with 6,080 passing yards and a 58:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio over his past two college seasons, Hendon is a dart thrower that can deliver the football with touch, timing, and anticipation at a short and intermediate range. Hooker complements his pinpoint changeup pitches with rainbow tosses that are high-arching and fall from the sky into the waiting hands of light-footed pass catchers running various vertical routes. After Hendon Hooker was transferred from Virginia Tech, he showed Knoxville that he can take on defenses like a championship fighter, deploying jabs (dink and dunk tosses) and right hooks (deep balls) that cause opponents to fight to defend every grass from the sideline to sideline and end zone to end zone. Hooker’s gait, patience, and precision make him a plug-and-play prospect at the next level. While unbelievers will say that Hooker’s numbers are inflated because of Josh Heupel’s explosive system, the tape shows a cerebral player with a clear understanding of concepts and coverage. Hendon’s knowledge and football IQ aid him play the sport in slow motion while other players (Levis and Richardson) move at a frenetic pace, causing inconsistent production and performance. Matter of fact, Hendon Hooker’s dominating multiple seasons in the SEC makes it an easy decision to give him the draft cap as the third quarterback off the board. He is more refined and productive than his SEC counterparts from Kentucky and Florida, and teams going for the toolsy guys could regret overlooking the prolific passer. Hooker’s game brings to mind Geno Smith’s play and just like the veteran, Hendon can excel as a pro if given the opportunity and a solid supporting cast. Five NFL teams that are potential trade fits for Devin White

Ex-NFL player and scout Bucky Brooks knows the workings of the NFL and offers insight from his notebook. He covers some potential trade fits for star linebacker Devin White. More than two years after winning the Lombardi Trophy, the Tampa Bay Buccanneers seemed to have fallen from the top. Last season did not go as they expected. Although the Buccanneers finished top of the NFC South, they posted an 8-9 record before losing on their home field on Wild Card Weekend. A while after this, they lost NFL’s greatest quarterback to retirement. And now one of the key players in the team wants to leave. Tom Pelissero an NFL Network Insider reported this week that Bucs linebacker Devin White requested a trade recently. White should earn $11.706 million on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, but the trade is probably because of the lack of a long-term extension. While White has not talked about the matter in public, Jason Licht did. On Thursday, the Buccaneers’ general manager said that the team does not intend to trade the linebacker who played a significant role in the 2020 Bucs’ Super Bowl LV triumph before he made his first Pro Bowl in 2021. “I have all the respect in the world for Devin,” Licht said to reporters. “He’s done some great things for us as a player, and we look forward to more from him in the future, so he’s on our team. We are looking forward to this season. We are gearing up for this season with the draft right now, free agency, and, you know, looking forward to him being a part of this team. If he has the kind of year that we all think he’s capable of, we can hopefully put this to rest and everybody’s happy.” Licht may be right and the whole matter will die out, the defensive captain might stay in Tampa Bay for at least one more season. However, with Devin White’s disappointment and the team’s current status adjusting to a post-Tom Brady existence, it will not hurt to explore which other NFL teams would be interested in having an off-ball linebacker in his prime. Especially with the dearth of mouthwatering options at the position in the 2023 NFL Draft, as shown by Lance Zierlein ranking linebacker as the weakest position group in this year’s prospect crop. In four NFL seasons, Devin White has been a stat-building machine with 483 tackles, 55 QB hits, 35 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, and an interception. He has constantly shown disruptive potential as a designated playmaker in the midst of defence. From punishing opposing quarterbacks to running down ball carriers from behind. White is a sideline-to-sideline menace defensive coordinators covet in a traditional Mike ‘backer’. On that note, White has been criticized most times for being more flashy than consistent. Last October, Hall of Famer and Buccanneers icon Warren Sapp took him to task for loafing or taking plays off in the middle of games, while focusing on a couple of lacklustre snaps on film. However, as a powerful tackler with incredible instincts, awareness, and diagnostic skills, Devin White becomes a blur when is locked in and ready to go. His pass-rush skills distinguish him from other players in this position. White’s impact could make him an in-demand commodity in the trade market. With all these in mind, here are five NFL teams that will be a good fit for Devin White. Minnesota Vikings It is difficult to know the Minnesota Vikings’ plan presently, with Kirk Cousins entering the final year of his contract. Minnesota should be in a transitional mood, having moved on from Adam Thielen and Erick Kendricks.  With Kendricks’ loss at linebacker, it could be hard for Kevin O’Connell and his team to pass up a chance to add a key playmaker to the defence that could disrupt opponents with new coordinator Brian Flores’ pressure packages.  White is a wrecking ball as a second-level pass rusher who has great instincts and timing. His skills match Flores’ aggressive tactics perfectly. If the Vikings can get this playmaker in the midst of his prime, they can keep chasing a title while flipping the roaster with interesting new puzzle pieces. Houston Texans If the Texans’ new head coach DeMeco Ryans wants a bully in the AFC South, Devin White could be the key component for this job. As a former Pro Bowl linebacker too, Ryanss created elite defenses in San Francisco around the playmaking talents of blue-chip ‘backers’ Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw, who constantly caused trouble between the tackles. White’s game is unique, but his potential for disruption and Super Bowl experience can jumpstart the Texans’ rebuilding effort. Ryans and general manager Nick Caseiro have enough salary cap space and draft capital to make this trade happen. Philadelphia Eagles Despite the Eagles being reluctant to pay big money for off-ball linebackers in the past, general manager Howie Roseman may see White as a vital piece of a championship-calibre defense.  White would give Philadelphia another player who would be part of a dynamic pressure package under the guidance of new defensive coordinator Sean Desai. Devin White could bring a new dimension to a defense with a deep-and-talented rotation along the front line. New England Patriots Bill Belichick can make a move for White if he wants to improve his defense and upgrade his linebacking corps. White who was a second-team All-Pro in 2020 is a pass-rushing specialist with a talent for getting to the quarterback that would cause problems for opponents who attempt to slow down edge rushers Matt Judon and Josh Uche in pass protection. Now that Belichick wants to adapt and adjust his tactics to play to the strengths of his top players, the Patriots could become a blitzing machine to destroy the timing and rhythm of the murderers’ row of quarterbacks in the AFC. White blood cells, called lymphocytes, grow out of control to cause swollen lymph nodes and growth throughout the body. The American Cancer Society says the five-year  “relative survival rate for all patients diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma is now about 89%.” But, cancer’s stage and the person’s age impact those rates. Dont’a Hightower, Patriots linebacker, three-time Super Bowl champion announces retirement

Dont’a Hightower has officially announced his retirement from National Football League, after playing for 9 seasons on the field; he wrote a retirement letter to The Players’ Tribune on Tuesday. “Today, I am officially retiring from the NFL,” Hightower wrote. “I know these announcements always feel bittersweet, but I can’t think of a better story than the one I wrote in New England. He won two national championships in college at Alabama too. Read Aaron Rodgers; My intention is to play for New York Jets; exit from Green Bay Packers ‘a matter of time’ Before his Pro Bowl 2019 campaign, Hightower opted to sit out the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Hightower’s first Super Bowl victory over the Seattle Seahawks, as a player for the Patriots, he made of the most unsung plays of the game, tripping Marshawn Lynch at the 1-yard line. The play set up Malcolm Butler’s famous interception to seal the Lombardi Trophy for New England. If not for his tackle, that match would have ended differently. “When I look at that first ring, I think about the Marshawn tackle,” Hightower wrote of the play. “When I saw Seattle line up in that I-form, I knew Beast Mode was getting it, and I knew they’d been gashing us with that strong-side lead all game. I knew he was going to walk through a huge hole if I didn’t take a risk. jamaal williams sigins three-year contract with Saints

Ex-Lions RB Jamaal Williams signed to three-year contract with Saints

Jamaal Williams has once again found a new home. The running back said yes to a three-year deal with the New Orleans Saint worth $12 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Williams got $8 million guaranteed money, according to Rapoport. The Saints, are the third NFC home Williams would be joining since he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 2017 NFL Draft fourth round. This move could not have come at a better time for the running back, who is entering the year after what was the best season of his career, rushing 1,066 yards and a whopping 17 touchdowns in his last campaign with the Detroit Lions. Now is the time for Williams to cash into this good fortune. Leaving Detroit will leave some eyes teary, especially since Jamaal won over thousands of devotees with his prominent, passionate role in HBO’s Hard Knocks. However, the NFL is still a serious business and if Williams were to earn his keep, it was going to be in 2023. The yearly average salary Jamaal Williams would be earning in New Orleans pales in comparison to the amount he earned in every other NFL position he held. Quarterbacks earn between $40 and $55 million annually, and Williams will make a fraction of that with the Saints. But, this position is not about his value, but a show of the state of the running back market, which was slow before Wednesday afternoon, with the Miami Dolphins retaining Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson, and the Dallas Cowboys releasing Ezekiel Elliot, these are the most prominent moves. Jamaal Williams will receive $4 million a year to play in an offense spearheaded by Alvin Kamara. He is been second best for most of his career, shadowing Aaron Jones in Green Bay, D’Andre Swift in Detroit, and now Kamara in New Orleans continues the circle.  Kamara and Willimas could form an unstoppable offense duo, already backed by Derek Carr the new quarterback and a receiving corps that has Chris Olave and Michael Thomas. For this next step in Jamaal’s career, he will do it in the Big Easy. NFL News: Aaron Rodgers; My intention is to play for New York Jets; exit from Green Bay Packers ‘a matter of time’

Aaron Rodgers; My intention is to play for New York Jets; exit from Green Bay Packers ‘a matter of time’

Aaron Rodgers, quarterback to the Green Bay Packers has said:  “I made it clear that my intention was to play for the New York Jets,”; “Because I still have that fire and I want to play and I want to play in New York, it’s just a matter of getting that done at this point.” Rodgers says he intends to play for the New York Jets, and he is waiting for the Packers to complete a trade before he can actualize this plan. The long-time quarterback while speaking to Pat McAfee on his podcast, put rest the rumours flying about that he’ll likely become a Jets player in the near future. “At this point as I sit here, I think, since Friday, I made it clear that my intention was to play, and my intention was to play for the New York Jets,” Rodgers stated. “I haven’t been holding anything up at this point, it’s been compensation that the Packers are trying to get. “The Packers would like to move on, they have let me know that in so many words, and have let other people know that in direct words.” Aaron Rodgers on Wednesday confessed that he was 90 per cent sure that he was on the road to retirement when he left for four days to think about his future. He then said that he felt something shift in the way the Packers related with him, and he wished they had been more direct with their intentions at the onset of the offseason. Through ESPN, the soon-to-be ex-Packers quarterback reportedly gave a list of free agents that he would like the New York Jets to get. Rodgers according to the report would also like for the Jets to pay attention to wideout Odell Beckham Jr., including Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb Packers wide receivers, and tight end Marcedes Lewis. carolina panthers trade for top pick in 2023 nfl draft

Carolina Panthers trade for top pick in 2023 NFL Draft

The Carolina Panthers could not guarantee themselves a rookie quarterback for the first round, not when picking ninth overall. That is why they do not pick ninth anymore. Carolina is close to making a bold move to trade up to the top overall pick in this year’s draft, courtesy of the deal with the Chicago Bears Friday. Multiple reports confirm that the Panthers will trade the Bears the ninth overall pick in this year’s draft, the late second-rounder bought from the San Francisco 49ers (61st overall), including next year’s first-round pick, a 2025 second-rounder, and wide receiver DJ Moore to get to the No.1 overall choice in this year’s draft. The deal becomes official at the start of the league year next Wednesday. Although this is a significant haul for Chicago, it is the cost of doing business to get a top rookie quarterback too, something that Carolina was clearly set on doing. online pharmacy buy priligy no prescription with best prices today in the USA “You go get the guy that you want, you know,” general manager Scott Fitterer said at the combine about potentially trading up for a quarterback. “If you have a conviction on a guy, you go get him.
