Two of Germany’s top three teams would be locking horns in this early season thriller. This game would also see two of the country’s brightest coaches go head to head as they look to get an edge over the other this early in the season. Leipzig has emerged from the bottom of German football to become one of the country’s biggest sides thanks to a solid business model that doesn’t discriminate against a player’s origin. The home side comes here top of the league table after collecting the maximum points available this season. They would be kick-starting their Champions League campaign later next week too so they would be looking for a morale-boosting result in this game. Bayern Munchen started their campaign with a 2-2 draw at home against Hertha Berlin and that has been their only dropped points so far this season. The Bavarians are currently 2nd on the league table and would be keen to knock the league leaders off their perch in this game. This season is looking more likely to become a three-horse race with these teams alongside Borussia Dortmund fighting for the league crown, so none of them would want to lose here.

Borussia Dortmund would be looking for their second win in as many games when they visit Koln in this game. Lucien Favre boasts some of the best German talents and they look likely to build on their second-place finish from last season as they narrowly missed out on winning the league title. Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard have joined them this season among others, and they would most likely have no excuses if they don’t end this season with a trophy. They have already earned an early bragging right when they beat Bayern in the German Super Cup before the season opener. Jadon Sancho has also started this season well and may become their major threat in this game. Koln has made an immediate return to the Bundesliga after being relegated at the end of the 2017/2018 season, they would be looking to build on the form that saw them qualify for the Europa League the last time they were in the top division. They are not on the best of form ahead of this match as they lost their opening league game 2-1 away, that was their 3rd loss in 4 games, they would have to be perfect to get even a point from this game.

Bayern Munich would look to return to the top of the Bundesliga table after Borrussia Dortmund secured a late win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday. Bayern lost 3-1 at home to Liverpool in the Champions League in midweek and they would be keen to return to winning ways with a win here and the fact that they have fallen 3 points behind Dortmund should provide the much needed motivation for them to go all out in this game. Robert Lewandoski has been in fine form for the hosts recently after scoring 2 goals in each of his last two league games and that could also be the case here as well. Mainz have been suffering from poor form so often this season. They secured a 3-0 win a few weeks back, but they have since lost their last two league games against Gladbach and Hertha Berlin, their fans would be less optimistic of a positive result in this game.  

Borussia Dortmund would be looking to keep the momentum from their 4-3 win over Bayer Leverkusen in their last game and get yet another win here to keep their title hopes alive. The Bundesliga leaders survived a major scare in their last game and they needed to as Bayern Munich had won earlier to close the gap on them at the top of the league table. That win came after they had endured a run of five games without a win. Their fans would now be hopeful that they  have gotten their mojo back and can now go on to win the league. Augsburg have not had the best of seasons and come into this game on a poor run of form that has seen them win or draw none of their last three games, so their fans would not have much hope for them to win in this game. Dortmund have won 10 and lost just 1 of the 16 head to heads between these sides.

Hertha Berlin would be looking to inflict a second consecutive defeat on Bayern Munich when the league champions come to town for this game. The home side had started their return from the winter break on time, but they fell to a disappointing defeat in their last game and they would be looking to bounce back here. Their 1-0 lost to Wolfsburg in their last game highlights how they usually give goals away quite easily. They have been good on the attack, but have also been unlucky at times and that has led them to concede some cheap goals. Bayern Munich also come into this game on the back of a 3-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. Again that result shows how inconsistent Bayern Munich could be and they could suffer another loss here if they leave as much space at the back as they left in their last game. Hertha have a relatively pleasing recent record in this fixture, as they’ve avoided defeat in each of their last four against Bayern. When the pair met at this venue earlier in the campaign, Hertha won by two goals to nil.

Borussia Dortmund would be looking to keep up their 6 points gap over Bayern Munich when they host struggling Hannover 96 in this game. The Bundesliga leaders edge out a close contest 1-0 away at Leipzig the last time out to keep themselves firmly in control of the Bundesliga race. That win was their 4th consecutive win. They tend to do even better when they play at home and their fans would be confident that they can record another win a here and keep themselves at the forefront of the title race. Hannover, on the other hand, head to this game after suffering yet another 1-0 home loss at the hands of Werder Bremen. They have managed to collect just 11 points from 18 games this season and come here in the relegation zone. Their current form doesn’t seem to make a case that they can cause an upset, but they were good enough to hold Dortmund to a draw at home in the reverse fixture and they would be looking to do that here as well.

Bayer Munich haven’t been at their usual best this season and they risk losing their German League crown to Borussia Dortmund this season. However, they seem to have gotten their swagger back and the end of the first half of the season. Prior to the winter break, they were on a run of 5 straight league wins, scoring 13 goals and conceding just once. They went on a warm weather training camp in Dubai and their fans would hope that they return fresh enough to give Dortmund a run for the league title. Hoffenheim have become the kings of draws this season and Julian Nagelsmann looks to end his reign on a high before taking over at RB Leipzig next season. They have drawn all of their last 6 league games, with 4 of those games ending in 1-1 draws. They have beaten Bayern Munich to nil the last two times the Bavarians visited them, but they don’t seem to carry that same threat this season.

Leipzig and Bayern Munich face each other in one of the hottest game of the midweek in Germany, and they would all be looking to keep their recent return to form in tact. The host beat Hannover 4-0 at the weekend, while RB Leipzig also returned to form by securing a 4-1 home win over Mainz 04, can the most hated club in Germany stun Bayern in Bavaria or will the home side get another win over their bitter rivals here, time would tell. Their return to form has not covered their away form for Leipzig as they arrive here having lost all of their last 4 games on the road in the league and Europa League, and Bayern would be looking to take advantage of that poor away form. The host have been in fine form recently and come into this game having not lost any of their five games in all competitions, apart from their 3-3 draw at Ajax, they have won all the other games.  

Borussia Dortmund are having one of their best seasons in recent memory and it seems more likely this time that they would end Bayern Munich’s dominance of the German league even before their last Bundesliga fixture. They come into this game after beating AS Monaco 0-2 in the Champions League, that was their 6th win in their last 7 games, and the other fixture ended in a draw. They have played and beaten traditional rivals like Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 already this season and their fans would expect another home win in this game. Werder Bremen come into this game after a 3-1 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf at the weekend helped them end a 4 match winless run, but it is almost impossible for them to build on that with another win in this game. However, the away side would be motivated by the fact that they have lost just twice on the road this season, they have also been scoring goals so they would fancy trying to outscore the league leaders in this game.

This has been a hot and cold start to the season for Bayer Leverkusen and they head into this game on the back of a 3-0 loss to RB Leipzig. The international break should have given them time to work on getting back to winning ways as they come into this game on the back of a single win in their last six league games. They have enjoyed some success in the German Cup and the Europa League. They were also without Bellarabi in their last game, and his return for this clash make them a more potent attacking team, it could also get them all three points in this game. Stuttgart are looking like the first team that would be relegated from the German top flight this season. They may have beaten Nurnberg 2-0 before the international break, they are still rooted at the bottom of the Bundesliga table after just a win in 11 matches. The away side made a managerial switch in the October international break but things have remained largely the same as they look to be heading back to 2. Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen lost 1-0 at home to Stuttgart when the two sides last met in April. Stuttgart have won just one of the last 14 meetings between them (W1 D3 L10).
