Liverpool have ended their pursuit of Olympique Lyon’s Nabil Fekir after they decided to make Sadio Mane their new number 10.
The Reds have been looking to replace Philippe Coutinho this summer, but a move for Fekir fell through after he failed his medicals.
Reports emerged this week that Liverpool are planning to restart talks with the French giants for Fekir, but after landing Allison for a record £65 million fee, Jurgen Klopp told the club’s media that; ‘we have all we need’.
This would be a major blow to most Liverpool fans who have been excited by the new arrivals at Anfield but were also hoping to see Fekir added to their team.
The Reds have also confirmed that Sadio Mane would be taking over the number 10 shirt vacated by Philippe Coutinho last winter.
The Senegalese attacker has become one of Klopp’s most important players and he netted 20 goals in all competitions for the Reds last season. Their fans would be hoping the jersey would see him perform even better when the new campaign gets underway.
Liverpool have had their most successful transfer window in a long time and the Reds would be looking to show how prepared they are for the new season when they kick-start their International Champions Cup games with this match.
They have played four domestic preseason games already. They beat Chester 7-0, Tranmere 3-2 before ending their 3rd game against Bury 0-0. Their last preseason game before this match ended in a 2-0 win for them courtesy of goals from Daniel Sturridge and Lazar Markovic.
With the addition of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool have a stronger team than the one that played the domestic friendlies and Jurgen Klopp would be looking to gel the duo with his new midfield combination of Fabinho and Naby Keita.
Borussia Dortmund have also made a good start under new manager Lucien Favre. They have played and won two friendlies, the last of which was their 1-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday morning.
They are also without some players who played at the World Cup, but the team still has the likes of Mario Gotze and Christian Pulisic who did not play at the World Cup so they would be looking to hurt Liverpool and get one over their former boss.
This game is one of the biggest games of the weekend in the Brazilian Serie A as Palmeiras take on their big rivals, we expect a lot of actions at both ends of the pitch.
Palmeiras should be gunning for the title this season but their recent run of form would not do their aspirations any good.
They played two consecutive draws before the league went on break, and they returned from their break with yet another 1-1 draw against Santos in their last league game.
They need to start getting the wins else pressure would start building and playing under pressure would not be good for them.
Mineiro on their path were doing very well before the break, but the break seems to have taken that good form off them as they resumed with a 2-0 loss to Gremio the last time out.
They made a couple of signings in the past month and the new players may need some time to gel, but they come into this game in the 3rd position which is not bad by any stretch of the imagination.
Both games between the two last season ended in draws.
Remarkably, Palmeiras haven’t beaten Atletico Mineiro since a 3-2 win back in 2011.
Manchester United are planning a major assault on Bayern Munich this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to sign the duo of Thiago Alcantara and Robert Lewandoski.
The two World Cup stars have reportedly been made available for transfers by the German champions and Mourinho is keen on taking them to Old Trafford.
Mourinho has signed Fred and also renewed the contract of Marouane Fellaini, but the Portuguese boss would not pass up the chance to sign one of the best midfielders in the world in Thiago.
The Red Devils also over-relied on Romelu Lukaku last season and when the Belgian was unavailable to play, the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford proved to be inadequate backups, this has forced Mourinho to target Lewandoski.
Lewandoski has made it clear to Bayern Munich that he wants to quit the Allianz Arena this summer, however, he may have too many big teams to consider with Real Madrid and Chelsea also looking to sign him.
Thiago Alcantara on the other hand almost joined the Red Devils in 2013, but the move was hijacked by Pep Guardiola at the very death, he may want to try himself in the Premier League finally.
The lure of playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo next season seems to be turning the head of Manchester United midfield star, Paul Pogba and the French man has now been linked with a shocking £133 million return to Turin.
Pogba played his best football in the colours of Juventus after joining them as a teenager in 2012, he made the world record return to Old Trafford in 2016, but his return has not been as sweet as he expected.
Pogba has been criticised heavily by fans and pundits alike and he has even struggled to convince Jose Mourinho of his potential, with the Portuguese boss benching him for the previously unknown Scott McTominay for a few games last season.
Sun Sport claims that Blaise Matuidi is trying hard to help the Italians convince Pogba to make the return.
Pogba is also impressed by Juve’s recent signings, most notably Cristiano Ronaldo and he could ask to leave Old Trafford.
Manchester United have just been named the most valuable football club in the world, so they do not need to sell their star men, however, if Pogba asks to leave they would demand a record fee for the World Cup winner.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has had enough of Loris Karius and the German has gone all out to solve his goalkeeping problems by making a record £67 million offer for AS Roma number 1, Alisson Becker which the Italians have finally accepted.
The Reds lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid in May thanks to Karius conceding two very cheap goals from Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale and the German has taken his poor form into preseason where he conceded another cheap goal against Tranmere.
His poor form and the generally poor quality of Liverpool’s goalkeepers has forced Klopp into paying Roma a fee that would easily double the current record transfer fee for a goalkeeper.
Sun Sport claims that Liverpool have agreed to pay £58 million up front while the remaining £9 million would come in add-ons. The Rome-based side have been stalling on accepting Liverpool’s offer over the past few days as they expected a bidding war with Chelsea to begin, however, the Blues who may need to replace Thibaut Courtois haven’t made any official approach for the Brazilian and they have given Liverpool the go-ahead to discuss with the player and his representatives.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has taken his eyes down to the Italian Serie A as he continues to search for a new defensive leader ahead of the new season.
The Red Devils have been looking for a new defender this summer as Mourinho believes his current options are simply not good enough to lead them to the Premier League title.
He has targetted Clement Lenglet, but the French man decided to join Barcelona instead, he also wants to sign Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld, but Tottenham are playing hardball over the sale of the World Cup star.
Sun Sport claims that Mourinho has turned his attention to AC Milan captain, Leonardo Bonucci and he hopes to complete the signing of the Italian before the end of preseason.
Bonucci joined Milan last season after falling out with Juventus manager, Max Allegri, but he failed to help the former European champions qualify for the Champions League while a ban for breaking FFP Rules means that they would not be taking part in the Europa League next season also.
Mourinho hopes that the lure of Champions League football and even higher wages would tempt the defender to make the switch.
He is prepared to offer the financially troubles Milan £30 million for the defender.
Manchester United and Manchester City would have to break the bank to land their top midfield target, Matteo Kovacic.
The two Manchester teams have been impressed by the World Cup finalist’s performance in Russia despite his limited role off the bench for Croatia.
He has also been impressive for Real Madrid for the past three seasons that he has played for Los Blancos, winning three Champions League crown in the process.
The Croatian took the front page of a popular Spanish daily just before the World Cup to declare his desire to leave Madrid so that he can play regularly.
His desire to leave has called the attention of Manchester United and Manchester City who have begun making plans to bid for his signature.
However, the English duo would have to pay at least £80 million for his signature after Los Merengues slapped that valuation on the former Inter Milan man.
Manchester United are looking for a new midfielder to partner Fred just behind Paul Pogba in their midfield and Jose Mourinho believes that Kovacic is a better player than Marouane Fellaini who has just renewed his Red Devils contract.
Peo Guardiola has just missed out on signing Jorginho and wants Kovacic as an alternative to the Italy international.
