Arsenal’s move for Stephen Nzonzi is being held up by a unique clause in his current Sevilla contract that entitles his father to some money when he leaves the Spaniards.
Nzonzi joined Sevilla in 2015 after spells in the Premier League with Blackburn and Stoke City, and he won the Europa League in his first season under current Arsenal manager, Unai Emery.
The Spanish boss and the World Cup winner are keen on being reunited at the Emirates Stadium but the two clubs are still far from reaching an agreement.
Nzonzi has a release clause of £36 million written into his current contract, but the Gunners don’t want to pay that much for his signature.
Reports in Spain claim that if his father can forfeit his own percentage of any sale of the midfielder, the Spaniards would be willing to listen to offers below his release clause, otherwise, the Gunners would have to pay up his release clause.
Chelsea attacker Michy Batshuayi could be set to make yet another loan move out of Stamford Bridge this summer, with La Liga side, Valencia interested.
The Belgian has failed to impress since he joined the Blues from Olympique Marseille in the summer of 2016.
He was shipped out on loan in the second half of last season and scored 7 goals in 10 league games for Borussia Dortmund.
The Germans were impressed and wanted to take him on a permanent basis this summer, but Chelsea wanted Maurizio Sarri to have a look at him first.
However, the Italian is currently intensifying efforts to be reunited with Gonzalo Higuain and that would surely push Batshuayi further down the pecking order.
He is already behind the likes of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.
Reports in Spain claim that the attacker has now been linked with a move to Valencia on a season-long loan deal. The Spaniards are said to have made their offer known to the Blues and they are now waiting to see if the Blues would want to add an obligation to buy at the end of the short-term deal.
Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire after his stunning performance at the World Cup.
Maguire was one of England’s stand out players at the just concluded World Cup in Russia and helped the Three Lions to reach the semifinal for the first time since 1990.
While he was solid at the back he also chipped in with some important goals as Gareth Southgate’s side impressed.
His performance at the competition has prompted several top-flight teams to consider a swoop for him, but Manchester United have been the most serious suitor.
Jose Mourinho has been looking to sign a new centre-back before this transfer window closes. He had set his sight on the likes of Jerome Boateng and Toby Alderweireld, however, Maguire is seen as a better option due to his age as he would be a longer-term solution to that spot.
Leicester City have said that the defender is not for sale, however, a bid of £65 million could be enough to tempt them into a sale, and Manchester United have reportedly asked them for their price.

Liverpool’s transfer business appeared to be over after the Reds secured the signing of Allison from AS Roma last weekend, however, and injury to Joel Matip has necessitated a new foray into the transfer market.
The Reds have reportedly set their sights on signing Croatia’s World Cup star, Demagoj Vida before the season starts.
Vida was a partner of Dejan Lovren as the Croatians stormed to the World Cup final in Russia earlier this month and he has been attracting the attention of several top teams.
Besiktas signed him for free from Dynamo Kiev in the January transfer window, but they are said to be holding out for a fee of around £27 million after his exploits in Russia.
West Ham have also reportedly joined the race for his signature, with Fulham also reportedly keen on adding the experienced defender to their ranks, but Liverpool would be hoping they can complete the transfer soon ahead of the Hammers.
This Tuesday Brazilian Serie A fixture sees Internacional face Ceara, they home team are expected to have an easy day at the office and get all three points with little to no troubles.
As a newly promoted side, Internacional have been very impressive and they look very likely to finish this season in at least the Copa Libertadores spot.
After 13 games, they currently sit 5th on the league table with 23 points ahead of this match. This game offers them the chance to build on their very strong position.
Their first game after the World Cup break ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Athletico PR, that result means that they have not lost any of their last 9 games and they would be very confident of getting a home win here.
Ceara, on the other hand, returned from the break to pick up their first win of the season following a 1-0 win over Sports Recife.
Despite claiming all three points in that game, they are still in huge trouble and enter this game six points off the pace in their battle to escape relegation this season.
These teams would be looking forward to a great season in the Premier League with Manchester City looking to defend their crown while Liverpool would be looking to win their first title in more than 25 years.
The Reds have played five preseasons already and they had won three and drew one before facing Borussia Dortmund in their last match on Sunday.
They went ahead on the 25th minute through a Virgil van Dijk header, however, a much-changed Liverpool side failed to kick on in the second half and they succumbed to a 3-1 loss, in the end, they would be looking for their first win in the International Cup in this game.
Pep Guardiola is without his World Cup stars, and the Cityzens had the most players of any European side in the World Cup last four, so it was understandable when they were beaten 1-0 by Borussia Dortmund in their first game of this preseason tournament.
However, with the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Leroy Sane in this group, Pep would be looking for his first win in his last four games against Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool have won three of their last four meetings with Manchester City.
