West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is optimistic about returning to the field after suffering a serious leg injury in a road accident in December.
Antonio’s car hit a tree, fracturing his femur in four places and he spent over three weeks in hospital after undergoing surgery.
“Reflecting on the incident in an interview with BBC’s Morning Live, Antonio shared, “The most difficult part is that I almost wasn’t there for my children.”
Now able to walk, the 34-year-old faces a long road to full recovery, with doctors estimating it will take 6 to 12 months for full healing. He remains confident, saying, “I know that I’ll play again, and I know that once I’m playing the game I’ll get the sharpness back.”
