Stephen Curry is taking a significant step forward in his recovery.
The Golden State Warriors star will begin participating in full team practices in the coming days as he continues to work back from a right knee injury that has kept him out of the lineup for 21 straight games. Curry was re-evaluated Saturday and the team said he is progressing well in his rehab. He will be evaluated again next week when the Warriors return home from their road trip.
Curry has been dealing with patella-femoral pain syndrome and bone bruising in the knee. He last played on January 30 against Detroit.
If cleared in time for Wednesday’s home game against the Nets, Curry could have up to 11 regular-season games remaining. Golden State had originally hoped he would return right after the All-Star break, but he sat out the All-Star Game as well.
The 38-year-old leads the Warriors with 27.2 points per game this season. Golden State is 23-16 when Curry plays and 10-21 without him. The Warriors entered Saturday 10th in the Western Conference at 33-37, essentially locked into a play-in tournament spot.
Guard Moses Moody, who is dealing with a sprained right wrist, is also set to return to practice and will be re-evaluated Tuesday.
