Mohamed Salah has shared a heartbreaking tribute following the tragic death of his Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota.
Jota, 28, died in a car crash alongside his younger brother, Andre Silva, in Spain on Thursday. Reports say their car veered off the road after a suspected tyre blowout while heading to a ferry back to England. The tragedy happened just days after Jota married his longtime partner Rute Cardoso, with whom he had three children.
Tributes have flooded in from across the football world, including from Jurgen Klopp and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Salah, who played alongside Jota at Liverpool since 2020, posted an emotional message on X:
“I am truly lost for words.
Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going back to Liverpool after the break.
Teammates come and go, but not like this. It’s going to be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo won’t be there when we go back.”
The football world continues to mourn the devastating loss of a player remembered for both his talent and humility.
