Russell Westbrook added another milestone to his Hall of Fame resume on Tuesday.
The veteran point guard recorded three assists against the San Antonio Spurs to pass both Mark Jackson and Steve Nash, moving into fifth place on the NBA’s all-time assist list. Westbrook now has 10,336 career assists.
The four players ahead of him are John Stockton (15,806), Chris Paul (12,552), Jason Kidd (12,091) and LeBron James (11,909).
Westbrook is one of only two players in NBA history with at least 25,000 points and 10,000 assists. The other is LeBron James. He also recently became the first guard in league history to surpass 9,000 career rebounds.
In 62 games this season, Westbrook is averaging 15.4 points, 6.6 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 42.8% from the floor. His six triple-doubles this season rank fifth in the NBA, and two of them have come in his last three games.
The all-time triple-double leader continues to build one of the most unique statistical legacies the league has ever seen.
