Real Salt Lake has announced that head coach Pablo Mastroeni and sporting director Kurt Schmid have signed multi-year contract extensions. They reaffirm the club’s commitment to long-term stability and strategic growth.
Alongside the extensions, Tony Beltran has been promoted to assistant sporting director, expanding his responsibilities within the first team while continuing to report directly to Schmid.
“We are excited to confirm extensions for Kurt and Pablo, emphasizing the club’s commitment to alignment, stability, and continuity as we continue building an elite club,” said Jason Kreis, Real Salt Lake president of soccer operations.
“Kurt and Pablo will help us achieve our goals of pursuing trophies, winning together through development, and making our community proud on and off the field.”
Schmid joined RSL in early 2021 as technical director before being elevated to sporting director. While Mastroeni was appointed head coach later that same year. Under their leadership, Real Salt Lake have reached the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in every season since.
During the 2025 MLS campaign, RSL secured a ninth-place finish in the Western Conference with 41 points, continuing to integrate emerging talents into their system. Among their standout players are USMNT midfielder Diego Luna, U.S. U-20 prodigy Zavier Gozo, and Paraguay international Braian Ojeda.
The new deals signal Real Salt Lake’s determination to maintain continuity within their technical setup. While also building a competitive roster capable of challenging for silverware in the seasons ahead.
