Real Madrid want Thibaut Courtois to delay signing new Chelsea deal

Real Madrid have demanded that Chelsea number 1, Thibaut Courtois delays signing the new deal that the Blues have offered him until at least April.

Los Blancos are looking for a new number one after they decided it was time to ditch Keylor Navas. They have also decided that the best place to sign a new goalie would be from the Premier League and they have narrowed their list of targets down to David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois.

However, Sun Sport is reporting that they want to keep their options open at the moment and so they have asked Courtois not to sign a new Chelsea deal yet. The Blues have offered Courtois a new contract since last year, but the Belgian has told them to allow this season to finish first before he can start negotiating with them.

Madrid know that Courtois has a desire to return to the Spanish capital and with just over a year left on his current deal, this is the best time for them to try and sign him.

The Belgian has also admitted that he would love to return to Madrid where he had previously played for Atletico as his wife and children stay there.
