Real Madrid’s bid to delay the start of their LaLiga season has been rejected by Spain’s football federation (RFEF), according to local media reports.
The club had asked to postpone their August 19 home opener against Osasuna, citing limited recovery time after their Club World Cup run in the United States, where they lost to PSG in the semifinals on July 9.
However, an RFEF judge ruled the request did not meet the criteria for a schedule change, stating that only force majeure could justify altering the official calendar.
“Finally, it should be added that although the requesting club claims to have the agreement of the opposing party, CA Osasuna, there is no record of this entity having responded to the request made by this judge,” the ruling stated.
