Portsmouth Fans Banned for Impersonating Stewards to Enter Derby

portsmouth

Two Portsmouth supporters, brothers Kane and Dale Green, have been banned from football matches for three years after pretending to be stewards to sneak into a sold-out derby against Southampton.

The pair arrived at the Portsmouth St Mary’s Stadium on September 14 without tickets but wore high-vis vests and carried radios to access a restricted area near the pitch. Their plan failed when security noticed they had no proper accreditation.

They pleaded guilty at Southampton Magistrates’ Court to fraud and entering the playing area. Assistant Chief Constable Tony Rowlinson called it a “ridiculous plot” and praised the club’s security for spotting the deception quickly.

Kane admitted he brought the steward gear as a backup in case he couldn’t buy tickets. The brothers were also fined nearly £700 each. The game ended 0-0.
