The NBA has handed down penalties following an on-court altercation during the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 132-111 win over the Washington Wizards on March 21 at Capital One Arena.
Thunder guard Ajay Mitchell and Wizards forward Justin Champagnie have each been suspended one game without pay for fighting and escalating the incident, which spilled into the spectator stands. The suspensions were announced by NBA Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations James Jones.
Thunder forward Jaylin Williams was fined $50,000 for his role in the altercation. Thunder guard Cason Wallace and Wizards forward Anthony Gill were each fined $35,000.
The incident took place with 27 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Mitchell, Wallace, Williams and Champagnie all received technical fouls and were ejected from the game.
Champagnie will serve his suspension tonight when Washington visits the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Mitchell will serve his when the Thunder visit the Philadelphia 76ers on March 23.
