Minnesota United have secured the future of one of their key breakout performers, announcing Tuesday that defender Anthony Markanich has signed a contract extension through 2028, with a club option for 2029.
The 25-year-old has quickly established himself since joining the Loons in 2024, making 35 appearances across all competitions. This year, he’s emerged as a difference-maker, featuring in 26 MLS matches and contributing six goals and one assist.
Markanich’s new deal underscores Minnesota’s intent to build around a core of rising talent as they push for continued success in MLS.
