Joe Gelhardt and Lewis Koumas were on target for the visitors, with Gelhardt also missing a penalty. Nathan Broadhead pulled one back for the hosts in the 76th minute to set up a tense finish, but Hull held on to make it eight wins from their last 10 away league games.
At Hillsborough, Watford denied relegated Sheffield Wednesday what would have been a first win in 31 games. Vivaldo Semedo struck deep into stoppage time to earn the visitors a 1-1 draw.
