Millwall edged past Derby 1-0 at The Den on Tuesday to maintain their push for a Premier League place, closing to within one point of second-placed Middlesbrough.
It was not a vintage performance from Alex Neil’s side, but they got the job done. Barry Bannan’s free-kick caused confusion in the Derby box, and defender Tristan Crama hooked the ball back into the danger area where Josh Coburn glanced a header in at the far post just before half-time.
The narrow victory made it four wins in a row for the Lions, who continue to build momentum at a crucial stage of the season.
Hull City tightened their hold on a play-off spot with a 2-1 win at Wrexham, despite co-owner Ryan Reynolds watching from the stands. Joe Gelhardt and Lewis Koumas were on target for the visitors, with Gelhardt also missing a penalty. Nathan Broadhead pulled one back for the hosts in the 76th minute to set up a tense finish, but Hull held on to make it eight wins from their last 10 away league games.
At Hillsborough, Watford denied relegated Sheffield Wednesday what would have been a first win in 31 games. Vivaldo Semedo struck deep into stoppage time to earn the visitors a 1-1 draw.
