The Championship title race is entering a thrilling final stretch, with fewer than 10 rounds of fixtures left for most clubs and the automatic promotion spots still very much up for grabs.
Millwall are making a serious charge at the top two after a 1-0 win over Derby moved them to within a point of the automatic promotion places. It was a fourth straight victory for the Lions and their seventh win in nine games, with Alex Neil’s side firmly establishing themselves as one of the division’s standout teams since the turn of the year.
Middlesbrough, currently second, are at risk of being dragged into the play-off picture after a surprise 1-0 defeat to Charlton. Ipswich remain in contention despite being held to a 3-3 draw at Stoke.
Much of Millwall’s recent form has been built on a strong squad blend of youth and experience. Forward Femi Azeez leads the way with eight goals and six assists, while striker Mihailo Ivanovic also contributes eight goals. Defender Tristan Crama has been quietly outstanding, logging more minutes than any teammate while adding three goals and six assists from the backline.
The Lions also made smart moves in the January transfer window, keeping hold of key players while bringing in experienced figures in Barry Bannan and Anthony Patterson, both of whom have strong records in promotion campaigns.
At the bottom, Oxford boosted their survival hopes with a third consecutive win.
