Chelsea and Manchester United are set to battle for the signature of Argentinian attacker, Mauro Icardi as Inter Milan may have to sell him this summer. The Italians are one of the teams that could be sanctioned by UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Play Rules if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. With the race for the Italian top four one of the most competitive so far, the Nerazzurri’s recent loss could see them miss out.
Icardi is one of the most coveted attackers in Europe at the moment with several big teams like Real Madrid and PSG also looking to sign him, however, he could end up in the Premier League should he be put up for sale.
Icardi admitted recently that he would be happy to leave if the club needed to sell him. According to him:
“I repeat every year, I will speak to the club.
“If it’s good for the team that I stay, then I’ll stay, otherwise I will leave.
“I always do what is best for the club and the team.
“When the season ends, we’ll talk to the club and see what is best for them.”
Jose Mourinho and Chelsea are interested in him even though the latter could be changing their manager in the summer also.
