Manchester United are reportedly looking to use Mason Greenwood as a possible makeweight in their bid to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The Red Devils are interested in signing a striker and have made Hojlund their primary target. However, talks have been hampered by Atalanta’s £86m valuation of the 20-year-old Denmark international.
United are now looking to add a player to the deal, with Greenwood seen as the ideal option. United has suspended the Englishman for 17 months following his arrest in January 2022 on suspicion of rape and assault and did not report for pre-season training with his teammates this week.

The Old Trafford side have been conducting an internal investigation since the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against Greenwood in February, and the likelihood is that the 21-year-old striker will be loaned out to a European club for the forthcoming season.
According to Sportsmail, United’s football director John Murtough has discussed the possibility of Greenwood making a temporary move to Atalanta during his negotiations with the Italian club over Hojlund.
Including Greenwood as part of the deal to sign Hojlund could lower Atalanta’s asking price and resolve the complicated issue of what to do with Greenwood, who is still under contract for another two years.
