Manchester United plot to hijack Everton’s move for Barcelona star

Manchester United are planning to swoop for Barcelona’s Colombian defender, Yerry Mina after they were priced out of a deal for Harry Maguire.

Maguire emerged as Jose Mourinho’s main target two weeks ago, but Leicester City don’t want any fee that is less than £65 million for the England World Cup hero.

This fee has forced the Portuguese manager to turn his attention to Mina. Mina has been linked with moves to the Premier League all summer.

Everton and West Ham were eyeing him with a season-long loan reportedly in the works. However, Manchester United are planning to make a permanent move for his services for £35 million.

Mina scored 3 goals for Colombia in Russia, but would still struggle to get playing time at Barcelona this season with Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti the first choice centre-back pairing. The Blaugrana have also signed Clement Lenglet and Malcom, the latter would need to be signed as a non-EU player, so Mina would have to give up his spot.
