Liverpool set to battle Arsenal for Mexican star

Liverpool are set to rival Arsenal in the race for the signature of Hirving Lozano.

The PSV attacker has been in fine form this season in the Dutch league and has attracted the interest of both Premier League sides.

Lozano only joined PSV in June on a six years deal, but his stock has reason as he has netted 11 times for them already.

Arsene Wenger thought he had stolen a march on the player’s other suitors, but Liverpool are now ready to bid £42 million for him according to reports.

According to Daily Star, some people in Arsenal are concerned about the commitment of Alexis Sanchez as the Chilean enters the final six months of his Arsenal deal, and Wenger sees Lozano as a perfect replacement for Sanchez.

Manchester City failed in their bid to land Sanchez last summer, however, they remain keen and PSG are also interested in the Chilean.

The Gunners are also interested  in German midfielder, Julian Draxler, and Wenger has reportedly asked PSG about a swap deal taking Sanchez the other way.

Liverpool are also fighting to keep Philippe Coutinho out of the reach of Barcelona, and Klopp wants Lozano to give him more option in attack.
