Liverpool and Arsenal battle for Stoke City goalkeeper

Liverpool and Arsenal are set to continue their fight for the same transfer targets with a move for Stoke City’s Jack Butland.

The Premier League duo were both fighting for the signature of Thomas Lemar last summer, with the Gunners countering Liverpool’s £75 million bid with a £90 million offer for the teenager.

However, both of them failed to sign the French man as he decided to remain in the Ligue 1 for one more season. Liverpool have since abandoned their move for Lemar, leaving the door open for Arsenal to land him for a reasonable price.

Reports this morning is claiming that the Premier League duos are also battling for the signature of Jack Butland after he told the Potters that he wants to play in a top club.

Butland has been a target of Chelsea in the past, but he is reportedly keener to move to Anfield. Arsene Wenger however, believes he can convince the English man to move to London instead.

Wenger believes Butland has the potential to become the long-term replacement of Petr Cech who has been dismal this season.

Jurgen Klopp also sees Butland as a good addition to his squad as they prepare to sell Simon Mignolet next summer.
