Kai Havertz MUST extend his  Chelsea contract, or he will be SOLD this summer

Chelsea have asked Kai Harvetz to extend his current deal at the club, or he will be sold this summer.

The Blues are putting their foot down over player contracts. This is in line with the policy brought in under new owner Todd Boehly, and they want to see Havertz tied down to a new contract.

The German international is a transfer target of Real Madrid, with Los Blancos looking to sign the striker after losing Karim Benzema at the end of the season.

The Frenchman announced that he would leave when his current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu expires. He is thought to have received a mage offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, leading him to cut his stay at Madrid by one year.

Therefore, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are looking for a replacement and have identified Kai Havertz as an option.

Chelsea do not want to sell the German striker as they see him as their main attacking outlet. He scored nine goals to become the club’s top scorer for the season alongside Raheem Sterling.

However, according to Sportsmail, the Blues could sanction a sale if the 23-year-old refuses to commit to a new deal at the club.

Havertz has two years remaining on the five-year deal he signed when he joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 and now faces a difficult choice ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

Should he leave, then he will join the likes of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, and  Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who are all expected to leave as part of a midfield overhaul.
