Hull City have dismissed head Coach Ruben Selles after less than six months in charge, despite successfully avoiding relegation from the Championship.
The Tigers secured their place in English football’s second tier on the final day of the season, surviving on goal difference after being bottom of the table when Selles was appointed in December.
At 41, the Spanish coach becomes the third manager to be sacked by Hull owner Acun Ilicali within the last year. The club is now searching for their fifth permanent manager since Ilicali took over in early 2022.
In a club statement, Hull said: “Following a thorough review of football operations after a challenging campaign, the club feels a change in leadership is necessary to move the team forward in line with our ambitions.”
Hull entered the final day in the relegation zone but secured survival with a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth. Under Selles, the team won nine of his 27 league matches.
