Trey Hendrickson thought he was going to have a superstar pass-rush partner in Baltimore.
The veteran edge rusher revealed on Terron Armstead’s The Set podcast that he was expecting to team up with Maxx Crosby after the Ravens pursued a trade for the Las Vegas Raiders star.
“I was looking forward to rushing with him,” Hendrickson said. “What an incredible opportunity that would have been to have bookends like that terrorizing quarterbacks. That’s what got me excited.”
The Ravens ultimately pulled out of the Crosby trade over concerns about his long-term health and instead signed Hendrickson. General manager Eric DeCosta said the plan was never either-or, calling the Crosby trade attempt and the Hendrickson signing separate parts of the same strategy.
Hendrickson said he has moved on from the what-could-have-been and is focused on what Baltimore can accomplish with Lamar Jackson leading the offense.
“I’m on the hunt for one thing and that’s to win it all,” Hendrickson said. “When you’re talking about No. 8 throwing the ball around, you know it’s a quarterback-driven league. There might be 32 teams, but there’s about seven or eight that can win it all, and we got one of them.”
Hendrickson reached the Super Bowl with the Bengals following the 2021 season. He joins a Ravens defense that needed reinforcements up front, and if he stays healthy, he is expected to push past double-digit sacks and give Baltimore the pass rush presence it lacked in 2025.
