Arsenal have not given up hope of getting Mesut Ozil to sign a new deal, and are reportedly preparing a final offer for the German.
Ozil is one of a few Gunners’ players who have less than a year left on their current deals and would be free to talk to other clubs from January.
Alongside Alexis Sanchez, Ozil is the Gunners most high profile player that could leave for nothing after this season, and that could potentially be worth £100 million loss based on the current transfer market.
However, Arsene Wenger does not want to give up hopes of retaining his best players.
Mirror Sports is reporting that Arsenal who have seen a £275,000 per week offer rejected by Ozil are prepared to give him a better deal and make him the club’s highest ever earner.
Ozil has said his refusal to commit his future to the Gunners is more than money, as he wants to win trophies.
Manchester United and Barcelona are his main suitors right now, but if he ends the season well and stars at the World Cup, his list of suitors would obviously sky rocket.
Many had expected the Gunners to cash in on at least one of their star men when the winter transfer window opens, But Arsene Wenger has said they would not sell.
