Fiorentina have made an informal approach to former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, despite acknowledging that landing the Italian coach is likely beyond their reach.
Maresca, 46, has been out of work since leaving Chelsea by mutual consent in early January. According to TMW, Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici reached out to Maresca to outline the club’s long-term vision, though the Serie A side’s board are under no illusions about the difficulty of convincing him to join.
The main obstacle is Maresca’s own ambitions. The former Leicester City and Chelsea boss has his sights set on the Manchester City job, where he is considered a leading candidate to succeed Pep Guardiola.
