David de Gea declares he is happy at Manchester United amid interest from Real Madrid

As Real Madrid prepare to make a move for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, the Spaniard has declared he is currently happy at Old Trafford.

De Gea came close to joining Los Blancos in the summer of 2015, but the deal fell through after some paper works were sent seconds after the close of the transfer window. They have remained interested and with just under two years to run on his current deal, they are planning to make another attempt next summer.

However, de Gea has moved to assure fans of the club that he is happy to have been with them for the past seven seasons and remains committed to helping them achieving everything they can.

Speaking to Daily Star he claimed: “Time flies by so quickly. I’ve been here seven years and I am happy.

“A lot has happened to me – some very good, some not so good, – but to be honest I am just really happy.

“I feel like an important player in the dressing room. I am one of the oldest in the team.

“It makes me happy to see the younger players coming through – and trying to make United big.”

He remains a huge part of Jose Mourinho’s plans for the new season and he has played in every single league game for them this season.
