Crystal Palace are reportedly preparing to make a surprise move for Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as they look for a replacement for Oliver Glasner at the end of the season.
Palace will part ways with Glasner when the campaign concludes, and with Iraola’s contract at Bournemouth also expiring in the summer, the timing has opened up an unexpected opportunity for the Eagles to pursue the Spaniard. Athletic Club had already been linked with a move for their former player, but Palace have now entered the picture with a formal declaration of interest, which would represent a rare managerial switch directly between two Premier League clubs.
Iraola addressed the speculation following Bournemouth’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United, insisting he remains happy on the south coast. “I have said it a lot of times, I am very happy here. I have a great relationship with the club and it is true that we will have to make a decision, but it is a situation I have had most of my years as a manager. It is not new to me,” he said.
In nearly three years in English football, Iraola has won 37 of 107 league matches, with his side scoring 158 goals and conceding 161. Bournemouth currently sit above Palace in the table and are pushing for a European place in the final seven games of the season.
With interest growing from multiple clubs, Iraola faces a significant decision about his future once the season draws to a close.
