Frank Lampard’s Coventry side moved eight points clear at the top of the Championship with a 2-0 win at Bristol City on Saturday, in a game that saw both teams end with 10 players.
The Sky Blues broke the deadlock in the 37th minute. Jay Dasilva delivered a cross from the left and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto got above his marker to head the ball into the net.
Coventry were reduced to 10 men shortly before half time when Joel Latibeaudiere was dismissed for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. But the visitors struck again deep in first-half stoppage time as Haji Wright drove a low right-footed shot past Radek Vitek to double the lead.
Bristol City also went down to 10 men on the hour mark when midfielder Adam Randell received his second yellow card for a dangerous challenge on Josh Eccles.
Coventry stayed disciplined and saw the game out comfortably to record a fifth consecutive league win, strengthening their grip on top spot in the Championship table. Sonnet 4.6
