Arsenal set to swoop for Chelsea star defender in a £25 million deal

Arsenal are looking to make another surprising move for a Chelsea player next month. The Gunners were able to sign Petr Cech in the summer of 2015 as Blues owner Roman Abramovich allowed  the Czech Republic to join a direct rival as a reward for his services to them. However, that transfer seems to have given the Gunners a rare confidence that they can sign any player from their rival, and they are now targeting David Luiz. The defender has been out of action for the Blues since November. He also had a very publicized falling out with Blues manager, Antonio Conte for his display in their 3-0 loss to AS Roma. Although Conte has rejected suggestions, that the Brazilian is out of the team because of the fall out rather than an injury, it is hard to see him getting back into the team given the form of Andreas Christensen. And Arsenal want to sign him with the promise of regular football. Sun Sport is reporting that the Gunners are set to tempt the Blues with a £25 million bid for the 30 years old. Luiz is expected to be out until the new year because of a mystery injury, but if he does recover on time next month and cannot force his way back into the Blues first team, Arsenal would swoop.

Chelsea could land summer target in cut price deal next month

Chelsea have been handed a major boost in their quest to land Juventus left back Alex Sandro. The Brazilian has been on the radar of the Premier League champions since last summer, and a deal worth £70 million was close but ultimately failed to materialise. However, the Blues have maintained their interest in the defender and they might finally get their man. According to Daily Star, Sandro has been struggling with a tactical change effected by Max Alegri this season, and Juventus are already planning a swoop for his replacement. Per the source AS Roma’s Emerson Palmieri has caught the attention of the Old Ladies and they are ready to sign him as Sandro’s replacement. Sandro’s form this season has been well short of his performance last season that saw the Old Ladies win the Serie A and reached the Champions League final, and that has seen his value drop significantly. Antonio is reportedly still interested in Sandro however, he does not think the Brazilian is still worth the £70 million he could have been signed for last summer. Juventus have reportedly also relaxed their stance on his transfer and would be willing to sanction his transfer for £50 million.

Liverpool star told he can leave next month

With the January transfer window fast approaching and several players having their eyes on next summer’s world cup in Russia, there could be a mass exodus of player from club sides next month. It appears Liverpool attacker Daniel Sturridge would be one of those stars that would be free to leave. The injury-prone attacker has fallen down the perking order at Anfield, with former Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke now even more preferred to him. Sturridge has made only 5 starts for Liverpool this season, returning with 3 goals, but he knows he cannot convince Gareth Southgate to offer him a place in his world cup team next year if he doesn’t play and score more. According to The Sun, the Reds are looking to get his £125,000 per week wages off their books and would allow him leave abroad even on a temporary basis. Sturridge was one of the first name on former manager Brendan Rodgers’ team sheet, but despite Jurgen Klopp claiming the attacker is the fittest he has been this season, the German still prefers to use Roberto Firmino as his target man. The Reds prepare to play Bournemouth this Sunday and Sturridge is a major doubt after appearing to injure his hamstring in training.

Juventus prepare £4.5 million a season offer to tempt Liverpool star

Italian champions Juventus have increased their effort to prise away Emre Can from Liverpool after this season. The German midfielder has under seven months left on his current Liverpool deal, and talks of extending it has stalled since last month. Liverpool are keen for Can to remain at Anfield, but since they opened talks of renewing his deal at the beginning of last season, little progress has been made, and the German appears to be on his way out. Several top European sides would like to have Can in their midfield, but Juventus appear to be keener to offer the midfielder a new home. The Italians have a depleted midfield and Max Alegri believes Can can helped them solve their midfield problem. According to MailSport, the Old Ladies of Turin have prepared an offer of £4.5 million for Can should he move to Turin. This offer would make Can one of the top earners in Juve, with only Paolo Dybala, Miralem Pjanic, and Gonzalo Higuain earning more. Can’s has repeatedly claimed that his decision not to sign a new deal with Liverpool is beyond money, but insiders believe it to be the German’s desire to have a realistic release clause attached to his new deal.

Manager of Liverpool target admits he can leave next month as other teams prepare to rival the Reds

Liverpool’s bid to sign Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk has received a major boost after Mauricio Pellegrino’s latest admission. The Saint’s manager admitted that he had no control over the transfer market that opens next month, even though he has his own opinion on the sale of players. Van Dijk has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s top sides following his impressive display last season, however Liverpool are his preferred club and the Reds did try to sign him last summer. Liverpool had prepared to offer the Saints up to £50 million for the Dutch, but their illegal tapping of the defender angered the Saints who blocked his move. Liverpool subsequently tendered a public apology which was accepted by Southampton and it appears the Reds are free to move for him again. The centre back was dropped for Southampton’s last game against Chelsea, making many people to believe that Pellegrino was already preparing for life without his best defender. However, the former Liverpool defender claims he was only being rested because of the festive season fixture congestion. Van Dijk is still interested in leaving, but his new six years deal his signed just last season, means Southampton have the upper hand in whether he moves or not. Liverpool face competition with Chelsea and Manchester City for the defender’s signature.

Liverpool star ask to be sold AGAIN next month

Philippe Coutinho has reportedly asked Liverpool to sell him next month as he continues to eye a dream move to Barcelona. The 25 years old Brazilian is the Catalan’s top target and they saw successive bids totalling £114 million for his signature rejected by the Reds last summer. However, Spanish media is reporting that Barcelona has maintained a line of communication with the Reds as they are still very much interested in signing the Brazilian. Coutinho tried to aid his transfer to Spain last summer by submitting a written transfer request that was rejected by the Reds, and per the reports, Coutinho has requested the Reds sell him again next month. Coutinho has picked up form for the past couple of games for the Reds and remain a key player for them, it is highly unlikely that Jurgen Klopp would be happy to see him leave in the middle of a very important season as this one. Barca is reportedly looking at alternatives to the midfielder, and they would reportedly move for Mesut Ozil if they fail to land him next month. Ozil has under seven months left on his current deal, and would be sold for a cut price deal.

Barcelona eye shock move for Manchester United man as replacement for former Premier League star

Barcelona’s manager Ernesto Valverde is eyeing a shock move for Manchester United utility player, Daley Blind. The Catalans are bracing themselves for the departure of Javier Mascherano who wants to leave in search of more playing time. Blind who joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2014 has fallen down the perking order since Jose Mourinho became manager last season, and his current deal which expires next summer is unlikely going to be renewed. Blind’s versatility is said to have impressed the Barcelona’s board and their manager who believe he can fill the void left by Mascherano when the Argentine finally leaves. Real Soceidad’s Inigo Martinez and Stefan de Vrij of Lazio are also interesting the Catalans, but Blind’s potential status as a free agent next season makes him more appealing. De Vrij is also into the final seven months of his current deal with Lazio but he is more than happy at the Italian capital and has repeatedly talked about only looking forward to signing a new deal at the Stadio Olimpico. Martinez is Valverde’s first choice, but with the club likely to spend heavily on Philippe Coutinho next summer, they may not be able to bankroll a move for the Spaniard.

Premier League leaders target defensive duo to help them win Premier League title

Despite opening an eleven points gap at the top of the league table, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is not resting on his laurels as he looks to bolster his depleted defence. The Catalan has led Manchester City on a run of 15 consecutive wins in the Premier League, which is a Premier League record, yet he is aware of his club’s defensive struggles and feel they could undermine their attacking efforts. Vincent Kompany could not complete the Manchester Derby, while John Stones has been out injured leaving Nicholas Otamendi and the previously unwanted Eliakim Mangala as the only defensive options Guardiola has, and he wants to address that shortage. According to Sportsmail, Southampton Virgil van Dijk and Inigo Martinez of Real Sociedad are his major targets. Guardiola reiterated his desire to sign  a new centre back next month and confirm he has told the club of that desire. He admitted that with the number of competition they are still involved in, they obviously need to get more defenders else they would be in “big trouble.” Martinez’s release clause is set at £29 million, while Van Dijk could cost up to £50 million.
