Nick Sirianni Blasts Criticism of Jalen Hurts’ Role in Eagles’ Super Bowl Win

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni isn’t having any of the talk downplaying Jalen Hurts‘ contribution to Philadelphia’s Super Bowl LIX victory. Much of the spotlight has been on Saquon Barkley‘s 2,000-yard season and the Eagles’ dominant defense, but some critics have suggested that Hurts simply managed the offense rather than being a driving force behind the team’s success. Sirianni quickly shut that down. “Yeah,” Sirianni said, via NBC Sports Philadelphia.  “That’s bulls—.” Hurts’ 2024 season stats, 2,903 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, five interceptions, and 14 rushing touchdowns (many aided by the Eagles’ trademark Tush Push)—don’t jump off the page compared to other elite QBs. But Sirianni and many others point to the bigger picture: Hurts’ 46-20 regular season record and 6-3 mark in the postseason, including his Super Bowl win.

Xavier Worthy expects more deep shots in Chiefs offense

“Coach Reid told us during OTAs Phase 1, ‘When you come back, get your hamstrings ready,’” Xavier Worthy said during an appearance on Up and Adams.“So, we kind of knew that we were going to be going a little deep during practice. We kind of got our bodies and our minds ready for what we’re going to be doing.” That message fits the buzz around Worthy, who was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by Kansas City after setting a record 4.21-second 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine. Although the Chiefs have remained dominant, even winning three Super Bowls in the past five seasons, their offense has lacked the explosive vertical threat it had during the Tyreek Hill era. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes‘ average depth of target has dipped under 8 yards in recent years.  Worthy believes that will soon change. “I feel like they started using me a lot underneath,” Xavier Worthy explained.“And I can get started over the top because me and Pat are building that rapport together. We’re going to build it in training camp.We got it going at the end of the Super Bowl a little bit, so that was a great feeling to be able to connect deep towards the end of the year.” Chiefs fans hoping for a return to the explosive, highlight-reel offense of past years may not have to wait long. With Worthy stretching the field and a motivated Mahomes at the helm, Kansas City might be gearing up for a deeper attack in 2025.

Sony’s New NFL Coach’s Headsets Set to Debut for 2025 Season

Sony and the NFL have unveiled a brand-new set of NFL Coach’s Headsets, developed from the ground up to meet the exact needs of NFL sidelines. These advanced communication tools will be used league-wide starting in the 2025 season, signaling a major leap forward in on-field technology. Inspired by the engineering excellence behind Sony’s 1000X headphone series, the new headsets are built for the chaos of NFL game days — focusing on clarity, durability, comfort, and noise cancellation. “Sony continues to stay ahead of the curve, evolving technology that meets the intense demands of today’s game,” said Troy Vincent Sr., NFL EVP of Football Operations. “Coaches and players at the highest level count on reliable and dependable communication, and this headset is another example of integrating game day excellence with football innovation.” Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur praised the headset after testing it: “Communication to my staff and players is everything. Sony took the time to understand exactly what we need, from clarity in noisy environments, to comfort and reliability when the pressure is highest. This headset took all factors of the game into consideration.” Sony tested the headsets in real stadium noise environments exceeding 100 decibels, using the same noise-canceling expertise found in their WH-1000XM6 headphones. Each unit includes a custom microphone that isolates the coach’s voice even in extreme crowd noise. “While this headset is built for the field, it’s backed by decades of audio innovation at Sony,” said Neal Manowitz, President and COO of Sony Electronics Inc. “It’s a powerful example of how our expertise translates into real-world solutions for the modern game.” Other features include: The rollout will see all 32 teams using Sony’s headset system for the 2025 season, marking a key milestone in the NFL’s push for innovation and communication excellence.

Derek Carr Still Weighing Potential Shoulder Surgery

Uncertainty surrounds Derek Carr’s availability for the New Orleans Saints in the 2025 season. The quarterback continues to deliberate on whether to undergo shoulder surgery. Carr has visited New Orleans twice in recent weeks to consult with the team doctor with his preference being to avoid surgery, according to NFL Network’s Jane Slater. Derek Carr suffered a shoulder injury to his throwing arm during his final game to the New York Giants. The 34-year-old’s reluctance to undergo surgery stems from having previously had a procedure on the same arm. Although no decision has been made yet, Slater reported that Carr’s decision is expected sooner rather than later. Last season, Carr missed seven games due to oblique and wrist injurie. This new shoulder issue has raised questions about his readiness for the upcoming 2025 campaign. Derek Carr has played 11 seasons in the NFL, with his first nine seasons spent with the Raiders and the last two with the Saints. In 10 games last season, he posted a 5-5 record, throwing for 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions. With Carr’s status uncertain, the Saints’ quarterback room is currently filled with rookie Tyler Shough, along with Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler—both of whom started in Carr’s place last season. Head coach Kellen Moore is now tasked with preparing for the season while waiting for clarity on Carr’s future.

George Kittle Happy 49ers Aren’t Having ‘Drama-Filled’ Offseason

The San Francisco 49ers have had a relatively quiet offseason in terms of internal drama. Due to this, star tight end George Kittle couldn’t be happier. After an offseason of roster changes, Kittle expressed his relief that there have been no contract holdouts or quarterback controversies. “I’m happy that we don’t have a bunch of guys holding out for contracts,” Kittle told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Jennifer Lee Chan. “I’m glad that we are not having a super drama-filled offseason. I think every year of my career we’ve had a quarterback controversy at some point. And to not have that, it’s going great.” Kittle secured his own contract early in the offseason and noted that the absence of drama has created a positive atmosphere. The 49ers’ offseason focus has included several new free agent signings. Kittle emphasized the importance of getting to know these new teammates before the grind of training camp begins. Quarterback Brock Purdy, also reported for the team’s voluntary workouts, and Kittle believes his presence further boosts the team’s chemistry. “Brock being here reinforces that because everybody knows who Brock is and he is a very social person in the locker room,” Kittle said. “His being around, getting to meet everybody, is just good for our team chemistry.” Having gone through multiple contract negotiations himself, Kittle has offered guidance to Purdy as he navigates his own contract situation. Drawing from advice given to him by former 49er Richard Sherman, Kittle likened contract talks to getting braces: uncomfortable at times, but ultimately beneficial.

Ravens Release Justin Tucker Amid Allegations of Improper Conduct

The Baltimore Ravens released veteran kicker Justin Tucker on Monday. This followed an NFL investigation into allegations of improper conduct during massage therapy sessions. He was accused by 16 massage therapists from eight Baltimore-area spas of inappropriate behavior. The incidents occured between 2012 and 2016 and Tucker has denied the allegations. Ravens general manager referred to the release as a “football decision,” despite Tucker’s longstanding contributions to the team. “Sometimes football decisions are incredibly difficult, and this is one of those instances,” DeCosta stated. “Considering our current roster, we have made the tough decision to release Justin Tucker. Justin created many significant and unforgettable moments in Ravens history. His reliability, focus, drive, resilience, and extraordinary talent made him one of the league’s best kickers for over a decade. “ Tucker is regarded as the most accurate kicker in NFL history, with an 89.1 career field goal percentage. He also holds the record for the longest made field goal at 66 yards and helped the Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII as a rookie. However, he is coming off his worst season as a professional, recording career lows in field goals made (22) and field goal percentage (73.3). The Ravens recently drafted Tucker’s potential replacement, Tyler Loop from Arizona. The draft was done in the sixth round of last month’s draft.

Rams’ Sean McVay on Potential Jalen Ramsey Trade

As the 2025 NFL Draft has passed, Jalen Ramsey remains a member of the Miami Dolphins. However, the possibility of him returning to the Los Angeles Rams has not been ruled out. Rams head coach Sean McVay addressed the situation during a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio. While McVay didn’t provide any new updates, he emphasized the complexity of such a move. “There are a lot of layers when you’re talking about a player of his caliber,” McVay explained. “Those conversations are ongoing, as I’m sure they are with multiple teams.” The Rams are not in immediate need of a cornerback, but McVay and general manager Les Snead have not ruled out the idea of drafting Ramsey. With a veteran cornerback group already in place, including Darious Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon, adding Ramsey could provide valuable championship experience. However, there is no rush to complete a deal, as waiting until after June 1 could provide the Dolphins with more flexibility in terms of cap space.
