Arsenal vs Southampton: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Premier League returns this weekend as league leaders Arsenal welcome bottom-of-the-table Southampton to the Emirates Stadium on Friday. The Gunners will look to get back to winning ways when they return to the Emirates after back-to-back away games that saw them drop four points from Te’o games. That came with back-to-back 2-2 draws away to Liverpool and West Ham in their last game, cutting their lead over Man City at the top of the Premier League table to four points. After dropping points from a strong winning position in those two games, Mikel Arteta will hope his side can see off Southampton without any hitches. The clash with the Saints looks like the ideal fixture to get back to winning ways, given that the Gunners have won each of their seven home games against current bottom-half opponents. Read more: Sporting Lisbon vs Juventus: Preview and Expert Football Prediction They have also scored a remarkable 27 combined goals in those games while conceding only seven in reply. So they will fancy their chances of extending their winning run at home in the PL to five games. Meanwhile, Southampton travel to London in dire form. The Saints come into this tie without a win in six Premier League games (D2, L4).  Their last outing was an embarrassing 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace, meaning that they come into this Round sitting four points from safety, despite the tight nature of this season’s relegation fight. Apart from being rooted at the bottom of the table, Southampton have not beaten Arsenal away from home in their last 27 head-to-head meetings.  So, this game is a huge mountain for Rubén Sellés’ side, who are running out of time to secure their Premier League status beyond this season. Leeds United vs Liverpool: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Relegation-threatened Leeds United will welcome struggling European hopefuls Liverpool, who are looking to win their first game since March.  Leeds come into this tie on the back of an embarrassing 5-1 loss to a Manchester City side, who condemned them to their 15th loss of the season.  That was also their heaviest loss of the season and firmly entrenched them in the relegation battle. However, they remain outside of the drop zone and still have their destiny in their hands.  But their key struggle this season is personified by the fact they’ve kept only five clean sheets in their last 41 matches. In addition, they have conceded 54 goals this season, which is only better than Bournemouth, who has conceded 57 goals.  Read more: Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United: Preview and Expert Football Prediction However, they scored twice against Liverpool at Anfield on their way to a  2-1 win. So another upset here would secure their first league double over the Reds since the 2000/01 campaign.  Liverpool are unbeaten in their last seven visits to Elland Road (W5, D2), though, since losing in November 2000. So it will be a challenging game for both sides.  But Jurgen Klopp’s side looks like a beatable team, having not won a single game since beating Manchester United 7-0  at Anfield in early March (D2, L3).  They come into this tie on the back of a 2-2 draw with Arsenal. The game showed they still have some fighting spirit, as they came from 2-0 down to snatch a point. That point leaves them sitting in eighth position, a whopping 12 points behind Manchester United and Newcastle United, who share the third and fourth positions.  But they are within striking distance of the Europa League spots, with three just points separating them and sixth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand. So there is still a chance they can qualify for the Europa League this season if they can start winning games.  Having crashed out of every tournament, that must be their focus this season as they plan their huge summer rebuild.  Meanwhile, only two of Liverpool’s last ten away matches have seen both teams score on the day. So a BTTS/GG prediction might be out of place in this game.  Click here to get the best football prediction for today. Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka took to Instagram to apologise to supporters after his crucial penalty miss against West Ham on Sunday. WHAT HAPPENED? The England international had the chance to hand Arsenal a 3-1 lead early in the second half of his side’s clash with West Ham at the London Stadium, but completely fluffed his lines as he sent his penalty well wide of the post. West Ham went on to grab an equaliser, forcing the Gunners to settle for a point that gives title rivals Manchester City fresh impetus in the race for the trophy. Following the contest, Saka apologised to Arsenal fans via social media. “Regardless of the outcome, I’ll always accept my responsibility. Apologies Gunners, I’ll do everything I can to make it right,” he said on Instagram. Article continues below View this post on Instagram THE BIGGER PICTURE: Arsenal now lead Man City by just four points atop the Premier League, and Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand. The Gunners have let 2-0 leads slip in consecutive contests, having also been held by Liverpool in a thrilling game at Anfield last week.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

After their midweek exertions in the Europa League, Manchester United will turn their attention to the Premier League when they travel to City Ground to face Nottingham Forest. The hosts desperately need a positive result to boost their Premier League survival bid after a miserable nine-match winless run dropped them into the relegation zone (D3, L6).  A 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, which was bookended by individual errors, left manager Steve Cooper scratching his head and admitting that his side can only blame themselves. But they will return to City Ground which has often been a source of strength this season, with the Tricky Trees winning 21 of their 27 points at the City Ground. That fortress hasn’t been as strong of late, though, with a four-match winless streak holding progress back (D3, L1). Read more: Paris Saint-Germain vs Lens: Preview and Expert Football Prediction But Forest still remains tough to beat at home, mainly because they’ve scored in all but one of the PL games they’ve hosted this campaign. Manchester United endured a frustrating outing in the Europa League on Thursday, with a disappointing 2-2 draw with Sevilla seeing them throw away a 2-0 first-half win. A season-ending injury to Lisandro Martínez also compounded that result, while veteran defender Rafael Varane was also injured in the game.  They will now travel to City Ground to defend their place in the top four. However, away matches have proved problematic of late, as a return of one win from their last five league road trips represents (D1, L3).The Red Devils have conceded 29 of their 37 PL goals in away matches, averaging 2.07 per road trip. So we will likely see a game featuring BTTS/GG

West Ham vs Arsenal: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Arsenal will continue their quest for the Premier League title this Sunday when they face West Ham at the London Stadium. Both sides are battling at different ends of the table and for different objectives. The hosts are still fighting to avoid relegation, having lost more than half of the league games they have played this season. This game against Arsenal is the second of two games in four days for West Ham, who come into this tie on the back of a hard-earned 1-1 UEFA Europa League draw.  Their Thursday night involvements and the fact that they still have to face three of the PL’s top five clubs in their run home adds some additional difficulty to avoiding Premier League relegation.  Read more: Bayern Munich vs Hoffenheim: Preview and Expert Football Prediction Given their current form, Arsenal will fancy their chances of winning this game. The Gunners are unbeaten in their last eight league games. However, they come into this tie on the back of a bad 2-2 draw with Liverpool, a game they drew after holding a 2-0 lead just before halftime. They will hope that draw isn’t the beginning of their downfall as they battle to wrestle the title off Man City. However, the Cityzens are carrying a similarly imperious form into April, so Mikel Arteta’s men cannot afford to slow down at any moment. That said, Arsenal have won eight of the last ten PL H2Hs (D1, L1) but collected just two clean sheets in that period. So we can expect a direct win for Arsenal, but a  BTTS/GG bet will be right for this game.

Chelsea vs Brighton: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Chelsea will return to Premier League action this Saturday when they welcome top six hopefuls Brighton to Stamford Bridge. The Blues were in Champions League action in midweek, as they were beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Despite a fast, positive start to the game, Frank Lampard’s side was undone by two defensive errors, allowing the in-form Karim Benzema to score in the first half before Marco Asensio wrapped up the win late. The result extended Chelsea’s run of games without a goal to four matches. It was also their fifth game without a win (D2, L3), a follows a weekend loss to Wolves last time out in the league. Read more: Rayo Vallecano vs Osasuna: Preview and Expert Football Prediction Interim manager Frank Lampard insisted ‘special things can happen at Stamford Bridge’, but that’s not been the case this term whatsoever, as Chelsea have won just one of their last six PL home games (D3, L2), only finding the net in two of those matches. In addition, the Blues have failed to score in the first half in each of their last eight league outings at the Bridge, while another first-half blank would mark their longest run in the PL era. Meanwhile, Brighton will travel to London desperate to get back to winning ways after suffering their first away PL defeat since October in a 2-1 loss to Tottenham last weekend. They’ve since received another apology from PGMOL for the decisions that went against them in the game, but that will do little to appease them as they will be without head coach Roberto De Zerbi who was sent off for his protestations during the game. The Seagulls will be missing the Italian from the touchline here as they look to stay in contention for a place in the Europa League next season. However, they will see Chelsea as the perfect opponent as De Zerbi’s first win as Brighton boss came against the Blues. However, a win here will be their first in London in a while, as they have lost their last three trips to the capital. That should serve as an extra motivation here, as will their desire to stay in the top six race.  And with only three teams in the division earning more points on the road than Brighton (22) this season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Seagulls carry away all three points. Manchester City vs Leicester City: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

After their midweek exertions in the Champions League, Manchester City will return to Premier League action on Saturday evening as they take on relegation-threatened Leicester City at the Etihad.  The Cityzens secured a massive first-leg win in their Champions League quarter-finals tie, beating Bundesliga giants 3-0 at the Etihad on Tuesday courtesy of goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and the in-form Erling Haaland. The win was their ninth consecutive win in all competitions and extended their unbeaten run to 13 competitive games (W11, D2). Pep Guardiola’s side scored 3+ goals in nine of those 13 games, keeping six clean sheets.  Read more: Spezia vs Lazio: Preview and Expert Football Prediction Given their streak, they remain on course for a historic treble and will come into this tie in confident mode. They currently trail league leaders Arsenal by six points with a game in hand and can be backed to win here, given their strong record against Leicester City.  Pep Guardiola’s men have triumphed in ten of the last 12 PL head-to-head (L2), while a run of ten straight wins at home also puts them as clear favourites.  Meanwhile, Leicester will be desperate to kick off their life under former Aston Villa boss Dean Smith with a win when they visit the Etihad on Saturday. The Foxes recently sacked their FA Cup-winning coach Brendan Rodgers after a terrible run of results that saw them drop to the bottom three after one point from seven games (D1, L1).  The former Aston Villa coach will be hoping to hit the ground running and will also be desperate to make good his boast that the relegation mountain is surmountable for the Foxes this season.  As expected, his side enters this clash as clear outsiders, given that they have lost four of their last eight competitive away games without reply (W2, D1, L5). Meanwhile, Man City have picked up 28 of 30 available PL points when scoring first at home this season (W9, D1). So Smith will be hoping that they don’t score first–something that looks impossible given that Leicester have kept just one clean sheet in their last 15 competitive games. That said, we can expect a first-half goal from this tie and a game of over 2.5 goals.

Leeds United vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Crystal Palace will look to continue their positive start to life under Roy Hodgson on Sunday when they travel to Elland Road to face relegation-threatened Leeds United. The hosts are one of nine Premier League teams currently embroiled in an ugly relegation battle after 29 rounds of football. But they did their chances of survival a lot of good in midweek when they beat struggling Nottingham Forest 2-1 at home. Leeds United boss Javi Gracia was quick to credit his players as “the protagonists” after they came from behind to secure the win, which was his third win in just six Premier League (PL) games at the helm (W3, D1, L2).  Read more: Liverpool vs Arsenal: Preview and Expert Football Prediction That positive run has propelled Leeds to 13th place ahead of the weekend, though with just two points separating them from the drop zone, the battle for survival is far from over. Meanwhile, Palace began life under former boss Roy Hodgson with a dramatic 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Leicester. That result ended the Eagles’ torrid 13-game run without a win in all competitions and lifted them to the top of a raft of eight sides separated by just five points between 12th-19th ahead of the round. Their next task is to end their torrid six-game winless run of away games (D1, L5), with four defeats coming by just a single goal. However, Elland Road hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the visitors, who have lost every away H2H encounter with Leeds United since the 2006/07 season (L7). Meanwhile, Leeds have scored just three goals across a winless seven-game run of PL games played on Sundays (D2, L5). It could be another under 2.5 goals outing at Elland Road on Sunday.

Liverpool vs Arsenal: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Arsenal will take their quest for the Premier League title to Anfield this Sunday, where they face an out-of-form Liverpool, battling to rekindle their top-four bid. The Reds, in recent seasons, have entered this time of the season embroiled in battles to secure the Premier League crown. But this campaign, they’ll merely be spectators after recording just 12 wins from their first 28 games of the season (D7, L9). European football isn’t even assured for them next season after a rotten run of no win in three league matches (D1, L2) has left them eighth and three points off of the top six ahead of this round. Read more: Lazio vs Juventus: Preview and Expert Football Prediction Each of those losses came on the road, and the Reds will hope Anfield can again be the equaliser in getting them back on track.  It’s proven to be so recently, and they have kept four consecutive home league clean sheets thanks to their most recent PL Anfield contest, a 7-0 thumping of bitter rivals Manchester United. Arsenal have often felt the wrath of a buoyant Kop, too, with Liverpool winning each of the last six PL head-to-head meetings at Anfield by an aggregate score of 22-4. However, the Gunners are a different beast this season and will be confident of getting a good result at Anfield this time. They come into this tie on the back of a 4-1 thrashing of Leeds United. The win made it seven successive PL wins to the Gunners, adding to the belief that the red half of North London can see their first league triumph since 2003/04.  Arsenal’s potential title-winning grit was on full display in their 3-2 success over Liverpool in the reverse fixture, meaning they could earn themselves a first league double over the Reds since 2009/10. Arsenal’s away form has been partly responsible for their dominance in the league this season, as they’ve won seven more points on the road than their closest title rivals. That includes victory in seven of their last eight PL away matches (L1), which has contributed to Arsenal owning both the league’s best defence (nine goals conceded) and offence (28 goals scored) on their travels. Manchester United vs Everton: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Manchester United will continue their quest for the top four this Saturday when they welcome relegation relegation-threatened Everton to Old Trafford. Both sides are fighting at opposite ends of the table, with the hosts part of three teams fighting for third and fourth position, while the visitors are in a battle with nine other teams fighting to avoid relegation. United come into this tie on the back of a massive 1-0 win over Brentford last time out. The win ended a run of three league games without a win (D1, L3) and took their season’s point tally to 53. That point toilet places them in fourth position, level on points with third-placed Newcastle United and three ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham, who have played one more game.  Read more: Southampton vs Manchester City:  Preview and Expert Football Prediction They will hope to keep their feet firmly planted in the top four and will be happy that they will return to Old Trafford, where they have enjoyed much of their success this season. Erik ten Hag’s men have lost only one game at Old Trafford in the Premier League (W10, D3) and have conceded the fewest goals at home in the league.  So they will fancy their chances of winning this game against an Everton side that they have a remarkable 38 Premier League (PL) wins against.  Meanwhile, Sean Dyche’s side secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last time. They won the point came despite playing most of the second half with ten men after Abdoulaye Doucoure was shown a straight red card for shoving Harry Kane. The result extended Everton’s unbeaten run to four PL matches (W1, D3), pushing them to 16th position in the standings. Although they sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone ahead of the game week, there’s a new fighting spirit in this squad who have now found an equaliser immediately after falling behind to each of their last three goals conceded.  So, they will travel to Old Trafford in high spirits and confident of another strong performance. If they win here, manager Dyche will grab an impressive personal record of becoming the second-ever English manager to win away at Old Trafford in the PL with two different clubs. Southampton vs Manchester City:  Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Relegation favourites Southampton will welcome Premier League defending champions Manchester City to St. Mary’s Stadium this Saturday for the 29th round of the 2022/23 Premier League season. The Saints’ march to Premier League relegation is unfolding before our eyes,  with each passing game confirming the almost inevitable outcome of Championship football next season. A 1-0 loss to struggling West Ham last time out saw them record their 18th loss of the season (W6, D5) and kept them rooted at the bottom spot after 29 rounds of games. Unfortunately, the result also showed one of their glaring weaknesses as they conceded their 12th Premier League set-piece goal of the season. Read more: Sevilla vs Celta Vigo: Preview and Expert Football Prediction  So they will welcome the Premier League top scorers this season to St. Mary’s, looking to stop a run of four games without a win (D2, L2) and also make it two wins in two games against City. Southampton beat City 2-0 the last time both teams met in the Carabao Cup and will need a miracle to extend that decent run against the Premier League holders here.  Pep Guardiola’s side come into this game in hot form, having won their last seven games in all competitions. Their last outing was a mesmerising 4-1 win over rivals Liverpool, helping to keep them within eight points of league leaders Arsenal.  With the Gunners not in action till Sunday when they face Liverpool at Anfield, City will see this as an opportunity to cut the gap to within five points, albeit temporarily. Having not tasted defeat in their last eleven competitive games (W9, D2) while also winning their last three away gans with two clean sheets, they will fancy their chances of getting maximum points against the Saints, who are the league’s joint-lowest scorers. Meanwhile, Southampton have won none of the last seven home league games in which they conceded the first goal (D2, L5). Click here to get accurate bet tips today.
