Manchester City vs Inter Milan: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Manchester City will look to win their first-ever UEFA Champions League title this Saturday when they face Inter Milan at the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadium in Istanbul. The Cityzens are facing Inter for the first time in a competitive game, and both sides are trying to back up winning their domestic cups with a UCL trophy. City has already won two titles, beating fierce rivals Manchester United 2-1 at Wembley to lift the FA Cup while also pipping Arsenal to the Premier League title. So they remain on course to become the second Premier League team after Manchester United to win a historic treble. Even more pressing for them is the need to finally win the Champions League, a trophy that has eluded Pep Guardiola since his move to the Etihad Stadium. The former Barcelona coach has been successful domestically but has suffered heartbreaks in this competition. His most recent outing at this tournament stage came two years ago when Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side beat him. He knows how important Winning this trophy is and will be desperate to finally land his third UCL title, having won it with Barcelona. Read more: Fiorentina vs West Ham: Preview and Expert Football Prediction His side’s form ahead of this game makes them favourites to win, as they have lost just one of the games they have played since early February (W21, D5). Meanwhile, Inter Milan are not pushovers, with the San Siro side in a run of eleven wins from their last 12 games in all competitions (L1). That run includes a 2-1 win over Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final. So they come into this tie looking for their second cup win of the season. They are also looking to win the Champions League title for the fourth time in their illustrious history, having most recently won it in 2010. Moreover, Simone Inzaghi’s side have been impressive in this competition, having won away from home against Benfica and AC Milan. They have only lost one UCL game this term on foreign soil (W2, D2).  But they have lost three of their last five fixtures against English opponents (W2), which is slightly concerning. However, they can count on their defence to keep City’s rampant attackers at bay, keeping five clean sheets across their last six UCL matches (W4, D2).  Meanwhile, the last three UCL finals were decided by a single goal between the 40th and 60th minute, so we might see a low-scoring game of under 2.5 goals.

Liverpool confirm the signing of Alexis Mac Allister on cut-price £35m deal

Liverpool has completed the signing of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for a reported £35 million fee. The Reds have been in talks with the Argentina international’s entourage since March and have finally landed their man after activating his release clause.  The deal to bring the Argentine World Cup winner to Anfield was initially expected to cost more than £60 million, so this investment – on face value – makes huge economic sense for the Reds, who can invest the change into signing two other midfielders. Read more: Tottenham confirm Ange Postecoglou as new manager Mac Allister, who passed a medical in Merseyside on Tuesday, has agreed terms on a deal that will run to June 2028. He has been handed Liverpool’s vacant No 10 shirt to show how much the club values his signing. “It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here, and I can’t wait to get started,” the midfielder told the club’s official website. “I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates. “It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.” He added: “Since I won the World Cup, I said that I want to win more trophies, and I think that this club will help me to do that – that’s the aim, and when you are in a big club like this one, you have to win trophies. So, that’s what I want. “Since I arrived here, I can see how big this club is – the players we have, the staff, everyone. I’m really pleased and looking forward to playing for this club.” Klopp said: “We are adding a very talented, very smart, very technically skilled boy to our squad, and this is super news, really it is. “I do not think the football world needs me to say too much about Alexis’ qualities because they are already pretty well known, but it is clear that he is someone who can play in a number of positions in the midfield and is an all-rounder, I would say. He is calm and composed and someone with proper game intelligence. “Of course, he is a player we have known about for a long time, and I have watched him grow from a young boy coming into the Premier League to a man who helped his country win the World Cup. That is quite a journey. “My admiration and respect for what Brighton are doing is well known, and Alexis has been a part of the journey that they have been on in becoming one of the toughest and best sides in the Premier League. “I’m really happy his next steps will now be with us, and we get to work with a player who is already excellent and experienced but also has so much more to come, given he is just 24 years old. “He is just as excited to be joining and working with us, and that already makes it a good partnership, but there is no pressure on him. He is still so young, so it is obvious he will only improve, and our job is to help him take the next steps. “I’m grateful to everyone at the club who helped make this transfer happen, and I am sure I speak for everyone here when I say I cannot wait to start working with Alexis. “It will be a bit of time before he is able to play at Anfield in front of our fans, but in this modern world, I am sure he will see how our supporters will welcome him to the Liverpool family when he looks at his phone today and sees the messages online. They will make him feel at home straight away. I have no doubt about that.”

“I’m not going back to Barca, I’m going to Inter Miami”: Lionel Messi reveals his NEXT destination

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi has confirmed that he will not be heading back to Barcelona but will rather move to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami CF. The Argentine international’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in the last few months as he was approaching the end of his contract at Parc des Princes. His former side Barcelona were one of the clubs keen on signing him, with the Spanish club speaking to La Liga to work out a special arrangement that would bring the attacker back to Camp Nou. Read more: N’Golo Kante CLOSE to Saudi Arabia move Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal also wanted to sign Messi and offered him a ginormous £ 2 billion deal that would have made him the highest-paid athlete in the world. But the 35-year-old has decided to join Inter Miami in a deal that reportedly includes an option for the Argentine to become a part-owner of the MLS side.  In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, he said: “I’m not going back to Barça; I’m going to Inter Miami. “I really wanted [to return to Barcelona], I was very excited to be able to return, but after having experienced what I experienced and the exit I had, I did not want to be in the same situation again: waiting to see what was going to happen and leaving my future in hand from another. “I wanted to make my own decision, thinking about myself, about my family. Although I heard that it was said that LaLiga had accepted everything and that everything was fine for him to return, there were still many other things that had to be done. “I heard that they [Barcelona] had to sell players or lower players’ salaries, and the truth is that I didn’t want to go through that, nor take charge of obtaining something that had to do with all that’. ‘I have already been accused of many things that were not true in my career at Barcelona, and I was already a bit tired; I didn’t want to go through all that. And well, by the time I had to leave, La Liga had also accepted that they signed me up, and in the end, it couldn’t be done.  “Well, I was afraid that the same thing would happen again and I had to go through the bullfight as it happened, that I had to come here to Paris to stay in a hotel for a long time with my family, with my children going to school and still being in the hotel… I wanted to make my own decision, and that’s why it was a bit that I didn’t turn to Barça. Although I would have loved it, I couldn’t.  “I am also in a moment where I want to get out of focus a bit, think more about my family. As I was just saying, I spent two years at a family level that was so bad that I didn’t enjoy it. I had the month that was spectacular for me for having won the World Cup, but removing that was a difficult stage for me.”
