Postecoglou commends Spurs players after victory at Brentford

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou was happy after a win against Brentford. Spurs won 2-0 courtesy of an own goal from their opponents, and Pape Sarr easing pressure on Postecoglou.  The manager said after the match,  “It is a difficult place to come and win at. “It’s also a difficult place to win with the way they attack and set up; you have to defend your box. You’re just going to have to do that. “I thought the lads handled that awfully well and we knew it was going to be key for us and the lads were brilliant and we felt we had the quality of football to hurt them the other way. Credit to the boys, they were brilliant.” On man-of-the-match Djed Spence, Postecoglou added: “Since he came into the team he has been outstanding. “We missed him the last couple of games but that’s the beauty of where we’re at at the moment. We’re slowly getting players back, improving us and helping us and I think that’s giving energy to the group. He was great today.”

Iraola explains loaning Travers to Middlesbrough

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has explained loaning Mark Travers to another club. Travers will be with Middlesbrough for the rest of the football year.  Iraola told the Daily Echo: “I think everything starts because Mark wants to play, wants to be a number one goalkeeper. “If you ask me, I don’t want to lose Mark Travers because he has been very good when he has performed. “But also we have to understand the player, understand the club also if they made a deal because for sure financially also it’s good for the club. “Sometimes you have to see with the loans or the possibility of okay, it’s financially good because probably they will pay the salary or you can increase the value of the player or the player needs to play. “And I think we have to understand all the positions and also we are very confident with Will Dennis. “He will be the second keeper now and with his training every day, I think we are confident enough that if he has to play, I think we’ll be comfortable with him. “And I don’t know, really (on if there is a recall option). “I don’t know if you tell me about the things in the contract and these things. I really don’t know what is in the small letters of the contracts. I really don’t know.”

Former Bayern Munich midfielder Martinez: Musiala destined for top

Javi Martinez is confident in the future of his former Bayern Munich teammate Jamal Musiala.  He was with Munich when Musiala first joined the senior team. Martinez told Marca:  “In the Bundesliga you still have to fight for it. Anything can happen, there are always many ups and downs. Obviously, they are the big favourites. Let’s hope that’s the case and that Harry Kane can finally get the title that has eluded him. It’s incredible. “After 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles, he arrives for his first year at Bayern… and Leverkusen wins! We all want him to win his first title and break that curse. “Jamal Musiala’s stellar rise at Bayern is surprising? I already knew him from his first training session with us. You could already see that he was special. When he arrived in the first team he weighed 20 kilos (laughs). He was a ‘naughty boy’, as we say in Spain in a positive sense. “It was even scary to tackle him because we thought we would hurt him since he weighed so little. But yes, as soon as he received the ball, you could see that he was special, that you couldn’t take it away from him, that he was very fast, that he had the qualities of a champion. His evolution surprised everyone. We saw a great project, but I think his evolution has been even greater and that he has no limits. He will be among the top 10 in the world for many years to come.”

AC Milan manager Sergio Conceicao knows of sack rumours

AC Milan manager Sergio Conceicao says he knows of sack rumours. Conceicao has barely spent a month on the job, while there are already doubts about his position in the club.  After Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan, he said: “I’ve had a team with these characteristics in the past. It’s true that the time is not enough. There have been rumours about my future, but I’ve just arrived. “I still have the luggage in my car – Conceiçao continued smiling – and they (the press) want to send me away already.” Sergio Conceicao continued: “There has been a lot of noise, but some things are not true. “The important thing was to prove personality, ambition and desire to win a game that meant more than a game. We must have this consistency in the league and other competitions.”

Simeone delighted to hit 500 games with win over Mallorca

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone was happy after a 2-0 victory against Real Mallorca.  Antoine Griezmann and Samuel Lino scored as Simeone marked 500 matches in charge with a win.  He said afterwards: “We look to the present, but I’m very happy with how we’ve progressed. There were a lot of people on the coaching staff who are no longer here, players who shared an idea, leaders who are also no longer here and who accompanied us. It makes me very happy. “And if I allow myself to thank these 500 games, I’ll make a section for my family: my wife, my daughters, my sons because I love this club very much, but I’ve taken a lot of time away from my family.” “The teams that fight for important things are the ones that concede the fewest goals. Our goal is to reach this situation and grow in the offensive part. The team is doing well, we needed this victory. We could have won before they had theirs because any situation that gets away from you makes you tie a game. But it ended with a stroke of genius from Antonie.” Simeone added, “I’m very lucky, I’ve had people around me who work very well, colleagues on the coaching staff, managers, people who support us continuously and the footballers who have followed us. There’s no idea if there isn’t a consequence on the field. I always look at Gabi, Juan, Filipe who have left a legacy and the rest continue to represent.”

AC Milan manager Conceicao frustrated after derby draw

AC Milan coach Sergio Conceicao demanded more from his team after their 1-1 draw with Inter Milan on Sunday. Stefan de Vrij scored an Inter equaliser in injury-time to cancel out the lead Tijjani Reijnders gave the team.  “We tried to press a bit higher in the first half, but nobody thought the same way, so we left important space for counter-attacks,” Conceicao told DAZN. “We prepared for this game a bit differently. I like high pressing and not allowing the opponents to come out with the ball. online pharmacy buy keflex online with best prices today in the USA We scored after Tammy won the ball high up the pitch. We must work on this. We had the right attitude, but we have work to do. We all agree on this. “Bennacer is a very interesting player technically, but I needed different characteristics in midfield. online pharmacy buy biltricide online with best prices today in the USA “We were at a numerical disadvantage with two players against three. We needed more physicality, so I put Jimenez on the wings and Musah in the middle. online pharmacy buy levitra soft online with best prices today in the USA “We could have done some things differently in the first half regarding ability and desire to have the ball. I understand the moments and the environment, but we must be stronger than this. We are at Milan and the players here must take this responsibility to keep the ball and stop the opponents, not allowing them to reach our goal too often.”

Everton to pay up to £16m for signing Charly Alcaraz, money back for club

Everton will pay close to £16m to get Charly Alcaraz permanently from Flamengo at the end of his loan contract. Alcaraz was named as a surprise prospect for Everton on Friday night, when a report came in that they had finalised a deal for him.  Flamengo confirmed those reports and explained that Charly is flying for England for a medical check up with the Toffees on Sunday. He will then sign on loan until the end of the term.  The loan contract will also cover a mandatory purchase clause, which will be activated if certain simple conditions are met. Alcaraz reportedly needs to play eight matches for the clause to activate.  The value of the clause has not yet been disclosed, although since Flamengo paid €20m to sign Alcaraz from Southamption in the summer, the amount should be around that figure. Journalist Venê Casagrande when speaking about the deal said:  “He will be bought (by Everton). Everton are obliged to buy. Flamengo have a clause there defending themselves,” he said on his YouTube channel. “The contract is a sale disguised as a loan. This happens all the time in Europe. He will be bought and it will be for, according to people inside Flamengo, for a figure that is almost the same value that Flamengo paid last year to sign Alcaraz from Southampton ($20m).”
