Arsenal to deviate from original transfer strategy by rivalling Chelsea for Reis

Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly both shown interest in Palmeiras defender Vitor Reis.  Reis seems like the latest thrilling prospect to come out of Palmeiras after Endrick and Estevao Wilian also succeeded. The Gunners have been associated with Reis in the past, although Charles Watts spoke about Arsenal favouring the European market, unlike the Blues.  Chelsea have successfully signed talent from South America, but that market is not something Arsenal have patronized much in recent times.  However, that could change as Reis as they now fully have their sights set on Reis for next summer.

The remark elicited a response from Guardiola, who was held back twice by his entourage as he said multiple times, “do you know what is lost?”, before being ushered away.

Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea to fight over Ayyoub Bouaddi

Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are all interested in Lille wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi. Sources say he is a potential candidate for transfer.  Bouaddi already plays regularly for Ligue 1 side Lille and is quickly growing his reputation as one of the best players in Europe in his age grade.  According to CaughtOffside, the young player’s reputation has earned him offers from Premier League clubs, especially Chelsea and Arsenal. Liverpool and AC Milan might also be two clubs invested in getting Bouaddi to sign with them.  Chelsea has a fantastic youth project managed by the ownership at Stamford Bridge, so that could be an advantage in convincing Ayyoub that he will get the opportunity to play and grow with them.  However, the Gunners are making great strides under Mikel Arteta, so the French player could find the Emirates Stadium a favourable destination.

PSV Eindhoven send six goals past FC Twente

PSV Eindhoven pulled off an impressive steal, when they beat FC Twente 6-1 on Friday evening. Twente led in the 10th minute when Sam Steijn scored a goal with an exceptional shot from distance.  PSV quickly scored an equaliser ten minutes later when Noa Lang passed Michal Sadilek to shoot into the far corner of the net. From that point there was just one winner and Malik Tillman scored a second goal before Ismail delivered another to make it 3-1 before half-time. Saibari passed to Ricardo Pepi to add a fourth but the crossbar ruined his hattrick. A remarkable strike from Richard Ledezma made PSV’s score 5-1 before Pepi sent in another one to finalise 6-1.  That superior performance and victory placed PSV at the top of the Eredivisie standings, while Twente is in fifth place.

former arsenal assistant round dispels rubbish rumours about his exit

Former Arsenal assistant Round dispels “rubbish’’ rumours about his exit

Ex-Arsenal assistant coach Steve Round has dispelled the rumours that he left Mikel Arterta, because he signed David Raya.  Round left the Gunner in the summer of 2023 and worked with Arteta for years, with reports stating that the signing of Raya, who took over from Aaron Ramsdale, was the last straw for him. But, while speaking in Footy Accumulators’ No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, the former assistant coach stated that those claims were untrue and he just needed a change of location.  “I read a piece about that and that’s completely untrue, it’s a load of rubbish.  “There were no arguments or differences of opinion or anything like that. When I first went in with Mikel, I said to him, when the time is right, I think I’ll need to move on when it suits us both.  “We had a discussion in that summer (2023) and we said, I think it’s time that I went and we were both in agreement with each other.  “I think I needed to step away from it and have a break. I’ve been on the front line for nearly 30 years and it was tough.  “And I think he (Arteta) needed to refresh his staff as well and promote a couple of younger coaches. I’d moved more into the technical director sphere, which is what I’m looking at right now. So I just felt it was the right time.  The Gunners are having a fantastic season so far and Round believes Arteta’s side can go all the way this year and lift their first Premier League title in over 20 years.  “You look at the team now, there’s men all the way through the team who are physical, strong, aggressive, superb on set pieces. They can score a wide range of goals, and I think they’ll push right to the end this year.  “I know there’s a nine-point gap now, but that can easily whittle away. If Liverpool lose (Mohamed) Salah or (Virgil) Van Dijk, the whole thing can change really quickly. It will go right down to the wire this season.”

Plymouth chief Dewsnip gives Rooney vote of confidence

Plymouth’s Director of football Neil Dewsnip has given Wayne Rooney a vote of confidence. Rooney, who is under pressure, could lose his job if the club’s results do not improve. Plymouth have given up ten goals in two matches and are 21st in the Championship presently.  “He’s driven to turn the ship around,” Dewsnip told BBC Radio Devon. “We’re all behind him, we’re all fighting alongside him and hopefully we can turn that into a good performance and a winning performance on Saturday.” Plymouth will play Oxford United next, with bottom clubs dangling close to the bottom of the league standings.
