Both of these teams were promotion favourites and they would have been keen to avoid each other in the playoffs, however, a stoppage-time goal from Patrick Bamford set up this tie and they would both be looking to get ahead of each other and book a place in the Playoff finals. There has been huge transfers between this sides in recent season and this game could be what decides which club got the better of the Albert Adomah-Adama Traore swap deal in 2016. while Adomah has netted 14 times this season, he seems to be out of form heading into this match, meanwhile, Adama Traore is beginning to show signs that he has become mature by producing results from his unpredictability. Boro are the form team ahead of this game as they collected 10 points from their final ten games to push themselves into a relegation Playoff place, while Aston Villa have struggled of late and their bad form was partly the reason why they missed out on automatic promotion. Villa have scored more than a goal in only one of their last 6 games, with many of their star men struggling form, they could suffer a heavy defeat in this first leg. Villa have won on 4 occasions in their last five visits to Boro.
Atlanta United are finally at the top of the MLS Eastern conference league table after their 2-1 win over Chicago Fire in Illinois. They had been threatening the dominance of NYCFC over the past couple of weeks, and after NYCFC’s loss to New York Red Bulls the last time out, they are now two points ahead with a game in hand on City. Atlanta are now unbeaten in 8 games heading into this encounter. Ezequiel Barco and Jozef Martinez were the scorers in their game against Chicago Fire, and although the Fires did try to get back into the game late on, Atlanta were able to hold on and claim the three points. Sporting have lost just once in their last nine and just two in ten overall, amassing twenty-one points compared to Atlanta’s twenty-three. The visitors have a four points lead at the top of the Western Conference ahead of new boys LAFC. Sporting’s games have been action packed and a thrill a minute too – their matches have averaged 3.3 goals per ninety minutes this season. In total, there were thirty-three goals scored across their ten matches, which is exactly the same total that has been scored in Atlanta’s fixtures so far. Atlanta United and Sporting KC have played each other just once before. In August of last year, Atlanta left Kansas with a point after a 1-1 draw with Sporting.
West Ham’s 2-0 win over Leicester City in their last league game has strengthened their bid to escape the drop this season. That win has helped them to build a five points cushion on the drop zone with two games left to play, so they can start planning for next season. The Hammers were on a run of four games without a win before that win over the Foxes, and two of those games ended in 4-1 losses, their fans wouldn’t be overly confident ahead of this game. Stoke City are the only team to have conceded as many as 67 goals that David Moyes’ side has conceded this season, and 14 of those goals have been netted against them at home by the top seven, Manchester United would be delighted to hear that. Manchester United should secure second place by the end of this game as they are currently five points ahead of Liverpool and have a game in hand on the Reds. Tottenham are the only team that could stop them from finishing 2nd, but that would require them to lose their next two games. Their loss to Brighton last weekend highlighted just why Jose Mourinho keeps playing Romelu Lukaku, and with the Belgian still injured, the Red Devils’ fans
Tottenham have won the race for the signature of Ryan Sessegnon as the teenager prefers to remain close to his family and friends in London. Sessegnon has been a revelation for Fulham since he broke into their first team as a 16 years old last season. He continued to impress this season and his performances earned him a lot of accolades at the EFL end of season awards. Several top European sides have been looking to prise him away from Fulham from last summer, however, he decided to sign professional forms with the Cottagers with the hope of helping them get promoted to the Premier League. But they have failed to qualify automatically and would have to go through via the playoffs. According to Sun Sport, Sessegnon has agreed to join Tottenham for next season ending speculations about his future. per the reports, the 17 years old would sign for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, then he would be loaned back to the Cottagers for the whole of next season so he can get enough game time that his development needs. Sessegnon has been moved upfield this season as a left-sided attacking midfielder, and he has scored 20 goals in 70 professional games for the Cottagers.
The race for who would not be relegated from the Premier League this season has been more interesting than the race for the division’s winner since Manchester City proved that they are head and shoulders above the rest of the top six, and this game brings two of the bottom four together in what could be a relegation shootout. When Carlos Calvahal was named as Swansea manager, their results quickly changed and it seemed as if they would end the season inside the top ten, however, things have taken the turn for the worse yet again and the Swans could get relegated if they lose here. Their last league game ended in a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth, the 7th game they have played without a win, and they have collected just 3 points from a possible 21. Southampton, on the other hand, seems to have found their feet towards this tail end of the season. While the Saints have still won only two of their last 23 league games, they have managed to go undefeated in their last three league games, which is the major reason they are still in the league fighting. Swansea come into this game 18th and just behind their visitors on goal difference, they would be hoping to win here and send the Saints down to the Championship.

Manchester United are prepared to back Jose Mourinho in his bid to sign a more productive attacker next summer. The Red Devils are one of the top six’s lowest scorers and Mourinho has identified Napoli’s Dries Mertens as an attacker that can bring goals to his team. Mertens joined Napoli from PSV in 2013 and scored an incredible 28 goals last season even though he was converted to a striker only half way through the season. He has scored 45 goals in the last two seasons and several top European sides have begun taking notice of him. According to Sun Sport, despite his incredible run of form, his release clause stands at a lowly £25million for teams outside of Italy. Jose Mourinho is tempted to bring him in and another Belgian could be moving in the opposite direction. Per the reports on Sun Sport, Marouane Fellaini could be on his way to Naples as Napoli remains one of his several admirers. Fellaini has refused to sign a new Manchester United deal and claimed earlier this week that United are in a week position as they did not offer him a new deal quick enough.
This is one of the rare occasions that these two teams would square up against each other and the La Liga title is not on the line, but that still doesn’t make this game insignificant. The Catalans have just completed a domestic treble, but they are still unbeaten this season and this game remains their only major threat to going the whole season unbeaten. They would hope to at least a point here and achieve that remarkable feat. Real Madrid may have their eyes on winning their third straight Champions League crown, but they would still love to be the team that ends Barcelona’s unbeaten run and they would be looking to ride their luck like they did against Bayern Munich on Tuesday in this game. Madrid are one team that knows how to get the results through whatever means possible, however, if they give the ball away to Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez like they did against Bayern Munich in midweek, they would pay for it. Lionel Messi has been the driving force behind this Barcelona team and he netted a hattrick again last weekend to take his goal tally to 32 in La Liga and 43 in all competition this season. Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last three visits to Camp Nou, however, Barcelona have won 6 of their last 9 La Liga meetings with Real Madrid.
