PSG vs Bayern Munich: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Bayern Munich will travel to Paris this Tuesday to face struggling French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League round of 16. PSG endured a difficult weekend in the French league as they were beaten 3-1 by Monaco. The loss was their fourth in 2023, mounting pressure on coach Christopher Galtier. The coach, after the game, conceded that he is “worried” about this first leg against Bayern as injuries to the likes of Lionel Messi, Marco Verratti, and Kylian Mbappé have hit his squad. Read more: Liverpool vs Everton: Preview and Expert Football Prediction However, Mbappe and Messi are expected to be fit enough to start this game, so we can expect some entertainment and goals as PSG are the only remaining side in the knockouts yet to keep a clean sheet, while they have scored in all but one of their last 32 UCL home games. Bayern Munich will also come with an arsenal of goals and entertainment, with the Bavarians the only side that won all their group-stage games. They were also the top-scoring side in the group stage with 18 goals despite having Inter Milan and Barcelona in their group.  The last time Bayern won their first seven games of a UCL campaign was in 2019/20, and that season they lifted the trophy. So they will be hoping for a seventh win on the bounce in the UCL and a fourth consecutive win in all competitions, having beaten Bochum 3-0 at the weekend. With both sides laden with attacking depth, we can expect a high-scoring affair with over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring.

Sampdoria vs Inter Milan: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Inter Milan will travel to Stadio Luigi Ferraris this Monday to take on Sampdoria in the 22 round of the 2022/23 Serie A season. Sampdoria ended a five-match losing streak in all competitions last time against Monza, although they were denied victory in the 2-2 courtesy of a stoppage-time penalty.  Dejan Stanković’s relegation-threatened side are at serious risk of dropping out of the top flight for the first time in 12 years after collecting just ten points from 21 games (W2, ad4, L15). As it stands, no side have recorded more losses than the 15 they have, and no side has scored fewer than the ten goals they have scored this season. Read more: Manchester City vs Aston Villa: Preview and Expert Football Prediction These stats give them a small chance of coming out of the relegation zone or winning this fixture. Given that they haven’t scored in six straight top-flight home games for the first time since March 1976 (L6), another goalless defeat here is possible. Inter Milan will look to ensure that happens as it would see Sampdoria break a new record, as it would mark three consecutive Serie A matches against the visitors without scoring for the first time since 1950, having lost the last two by 3-0. The visitors come into this tie in solid form, as the Nerazzurri have kept three clean sheets across their last six league games. Simone Inzaghi’sInzaghi’s men will travel to Genoa confidently, having won the Derby della Madonnina last matchday to ensure they’ll spend another week in the top four regardless of the result here.  Given these numbers, the best prediction for this game is a straight win for Inter Milan. Manchester City vs Aston Villa: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Manchester City and Aston Villa will be looking to secure maximum points when both teams meet at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening. The hosts failed to capitalise on Arsenal’s slip in the last round, falling to a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham away from home.  They return to the Etihad, hoping to continue their good form there. The ‘Cityzens’ have won their last four home games in all competitions, keeping three clean sheets. Read more: Villarreal vs Barcelona: Preview and Expert Football Prediction They have also won each of their last 12 home league games against Aston Villa and can be backed to record a straight home win in this fixture. However, are no pushovers under Unai Emery. The visitors may be entering this tie on the back of a disappointing 4-2 loss to Leicester City, but they remain a good side under the Basque coach. They come into this fixture sitting one point outside the top half, with the goal for the season still a half-finish this season after only recently battling away from the relegation zone. The Villans have won each of their three away league games under the guidance of Emery and so will be quietly confident of heaping the misery on a Man City side distracted by off-field issues. Napoli vs Cremonese: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

Serie A leaders Napoli will look to continue their remarkable run of form in the league when they host struggling Cremonese this weekend. The Naples side are currently sitting top of the Serie A table after taking 56 points from the 63 available in the league this season (W18, D2, L1). They are in a run of five consecutive league wins, with their recent 3-0 win over Spezia taking them 13 points clear at the top. The win also means they boast the most Seria A goals this season (51) while simultaneously boasting the best league defence, conceding the fewest number of goals at the other end (15).  Read more: Bayern Munich vs Bochum: Preview and Expert Football Prediction Those impressive numbers and an unbeaten record at home this season (W9, D1) puts them in pole position for a sure home win in this game. Cremenose’s record of zero wins after 21 games (D8, L13) makes them the ideal candidates for another whipping by Napoli this weekend. The visitors are now one of only two newly promoted Serie A teams in history who have failed to win any of their opening 21 league matches. With a ten-point gap to safety already established, it seems only a matter of time before they’re relegated back to Serie B. But having secured a narrow win over Napoli in the Coppa Italia last month, they will quietly feel confident of recording another upset in this game. They have also picked up two results against top-six outfits in Atalanta (1-1) and AC Milan (0-0) away from home this season. For best sure home win predictions, click here.

Villarreal vs Barcelona: Preview and Expert Football Prediction

La Liga leaders Barcelona will travel to Estadio de la Cerámica this Sunday to face Villarreal in the 21st round of the 2022/23 La Liga season. The Yellow Submarines are looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last two games and dropping to seventh in the table as a result. Manager Quique Setién has transformed Villarreal since his appointment in October but faces the enormous task of beating one of his old clubs. This is a contest between two of the league’s sternest defences, with Villarreal’s 17 goals conceded only bettered by Barcelona’s seven conceded. So we might see a tight encounter that will feature Under 2.5 Goals. However, the goals could also rain here if recent contests are anything to go by, as the last four La Liga meetings at Estadio de la Ceramica have produced an exciting average of five goals per game–Over 2.5 Goals. Barcelona come into this tie as the clear favourites, given their form and history in this fixture. The Catalan side have won their last ten games in all competitions. They are also unbeaten in 14 competitive games and have kept five clean sheets in their last six games. Read more: Leeds United vs Manchester United: Preview and Expert Football Prediction Xavi’s men have yet to taste defeat at this venue since October 2007 (W10, D5), so they will fancy their chances of winning here.

Brentford ready to cash in on David Raya after failed contract talks

Brentford coach Thomas Frank has admitted that his goalkeeper David Raya could be sold by this summer after both parties failed to agree on terms of a new contract. The Spain goalkeeper’s contract expires in 2024, but he has failed to commit to a new deal. Earlier this week, he revealed that he had turned down two new offers from the Bees, leading to speculations that he could be sold this summer. The 27-year-old has proven to be one of the Premier League’s finest stoppers since Brentford were promoted to the Premier League in 2021, and his performance has attracted the interest of Manchester United and Tottenham. Read more: Thiago Silva extends Chelsea contract until 2024 When asked about the future of his goalkeeper, Brentford’s manager revealed the player wants to leave.  “I think if he turns it [a contract offer] down twice, then unfortunately, that’s a signal,” he said.  “We made two really good offers, but that’s fine; it’s a free world. We can’t force anyone. “That said, David has been amazing for us, coming from Blackburn three-and-a-half years ago. “In the first season, for me, he was the best ‘keeper in the Championship and then was involved in the play-off final. He made a mistake there, but we told him, ‘you will come back stronger’, and the year after, we did it. “He has taken that form into the Premier League, and I think he’s one of the best ‘keepers in this league right now. He’s very focused, and every day he’s here, I’m happy. “He’s one of the captains, and he is leading with his performances and his behaviour. He’s a top character. “I hope he will stay forever, but it looks like it could be difficult with the contract situation. “He must be [worth] at least £40m plus. If he had three years [left on his contract], it would be £70m. How much was Kepa? He is at least as good as him.”

The Elland Road side are still without a full-time manager after sacking Jesse Marsch last week.
