aaron boone ejected after fan heckles umpire

Aaron Boone ejected after fan heckles umpire

Hunter Wendelstedt ejected Aaron Boone five pitches into the New York Yankees’ day game against the Oakland Athletics.  Yankees manager Aaron Boone is no stranger to being ejected from games. The Umpire sent him out early in Monday afternoon’s game against the Athletics in Yankee Stadium. This is his 35th career ejection.  A fan yelled out something, and Wendelstedt sent Boone out for it. This was just five pitches into the game and home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt told Boone in no uncertain terms that one more word and he was out. In another video, which includes NSFW language, Boone can be heard pleading; “I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING, HUNTER!”  The smoking gun here is that a fan in a blue shirt in the front row can be seen yelling something and that is what caused Wendelstedt to run Boone. “I didn’t even go after Hunter, I was more upset on the appeal,” he said (via YES Network. “I said ‘Hunter you can call it, too’ and he came back at me pretty hard, to which I didn’t respond. I just said, ‘OK,’ went down and it’s embarrassing. It is a bad — it’s embarrassing.”  Boone also said he would reach out to Major League Baseball about the ejection. “Aaron Boone is the manager of the New York Yankees and is responsible for everything that happens in that dugout,” Wendelstedt said after the game (via MLB.com). “… I don’t want to eject a ballplayer. We need to keep them in the game. That’s what the fans pay to see. Aaron Boone runs the Yankees. What he said was there was a fan right above the dugout. This isn’t my first ejection. In my career, I have never ejected a player or a manager for something a fan has said. I understand that will be part of a story or something like that because that’s what Aaron was portraying. I heard something come from the far end of the dugout, it had nothing to do with his area but he’s the manager of the Yankees. So he’s the one that had to go.” Wendelstedt also accepted that Boone “probably’’ did not comment.  However, if there was already excessive talking, threatening to remove a manager after “one more word’’ is generally the right call from the umpire. And then Wendelstedt thought he heard another word from Boone. He made a mistake, but it doesn’t feel like he could have undone the ejection once he realized he was wrong.

barcelona great rivaldo: hire mourinho

Barcelona great Rivaldo: ‘Hire Mourinho!’

Barcelona legend Rivaldo says Jose Mourinho would be an ideal appointment for the team. Mourinho is available after AS Roma dismissed him earlier this season. Xavi will leave Barca at the end of the season. “There are many fans who would not approve of coaches or players who have represented the rival (Real Madrid), but Mourinho has already been with Barcelona and is a great person,” Rivaldo told Mundo Deportivo. “His intensity and his controversies with his supporters would be a concern from day one, but he is a winner. “Considering that he doesn’t have a club and the situation that is in Barcelona, it is easier for him to reach out to the team now, and I think he would have been a great recruitment, even if some supporters don’t want to hear his name. “He would undoubtedly do a great job, he knows the team, the Spanish league, the Champions League and has a lot of experience.”

Arsenal conclude price decision for Ramsdale

Premier League club Arsenal are not ready to sell any of their players cheaply this summer, especially Aaron Ramsdale. For instance, they will demand £60 million for England goalkeeper Aaron. Ramsdale does not want to leave the Gunners due to lack of first-team game time. But, Arsenal will not give him to anyone unless they collect a large sum, since he has a long-term contract. All the funds generated from sales will go toward player purchases, hence the need to raise more money. The Mail adds that He and Arsenal agree that an eventual exit is best for both parties.

Manchester United captain Fernandes: “Fletch Wembley’s words lifted us’

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed the inspirational team talk that led them to the FA Cup final. Fernandes, the club captain this season, was part of the squad that was 3-0 up against Coventry City, only for it to become 3-3 before winning out on penalties. Although Fernandes was frustrated by the game, he did commend Darren Fletcher for speaking to the players pre-game. Read Palkin: Chelsea coaches must learn how to work with Mudryk. When asked manager Erik ten Hag told them, Fernandes said: “To believe, to believe we can get into the final. It’s about pride, about getting to an FA Cup final, you don’t get here often, not all the teams get here often. “We had Fletch speaking before the game. Fletch has been part of one of the best teams for Man United in the past years and he’s been here three times at Wembley for the FA Cup, he played 12 years for the club, and he was in the most successful part of the club in the last years. “It shows you how big it is to be in the FA Cup, how difficult it is and now obviously we have to be frustrated at the way the game ended up but at the same time proud again to be in the FA Cup final and hopefully we are going to do it differently to last season. “

Diego Gómez out six weeks with ankle injury

Inter Miami CF midfielder Diego Gómez will be absent for six weeks. This was after a high-grade ankle sprain in the first half of the club’s Matchday 10 win over Nashville SC. Miami is anticipating Gómez’s injury status, after he left the club’s 3-1 victory over Nashville SC on a stretcher with a sprained ankle. Diego fell with a non-contact injury in the 38th minute after pushing Nashville’s keeper Elliot Panicco near the goal line. His efforts earned Miami a corner kick that led to Sergio Busquets’ goal. It also inspired Lionel Messi to offer the club their first lead. “They took him to the hospital to get an X-ray. It was an ankle sprain,” head coach Gerardo Martino said post-match of the 21-year-old, who has 2 goals and 5 assists on the campaign. Gómez was fresh off a ‘Team of the Matchday’ award that Audi-worthy presented in Matchday 9. Gómez could become Inter Miami’s latest high-profile injury, after Federico Redondo and Facundo Farías. Benjamin Cremaschi made his season debut in Matchday 9 following January hernia surgery. Messi, a lead scorer is also weeks removed from a hamstring injury. Now Gómez’s short-term status is questionable, and probably his availability for Paraguay at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. “What we saw was an ankle sprain. We need to find out whether it was a regular sprain or whether there’s anything serious with the bone, and that’s what [we’re] trying to rule out now,” Martino added. “He was in a lot of pain, the ankle was swollen. But we can’t make any suppositions.”

nylander could be absent again for maple leafs

Nylander could be absent again for Maple Leafs in Game 2 of the Eastern 1st Round

William Nylander is still questionable for the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference. They play the first round against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Monday due to an undisclosed injury. The forward participated in the morning skate Monday after missing Game 1 of the best-of-7 series Saturday, a 5-1 defeat. Despite joining the team on the ice Monday, Nylander did not show up for in-line rushes. He also stayed on for extra skating with projected scratches.  However, head coach Sheldon Keefe did not completely discard the possibility of Nylander returning for Game 2.  “It’s great to see him with the group,” Keefe said after the skate. “He looks good out there. … We’ll see how he feels the rest of the day here and make a decision.” Nylander did not participate in special-teams drills; the team promoted Tyler Bertuzzi to the top power-play unit, while forward Calle Jarnkrok moved to the second unit. The Maple Leafs went 0-for-3 with the man advantage Saturday, and David Kampf scored the only goal. William played all 82 matches in the regular season. He finished with an NHL career-high 98 points (40 goals, 58 assists), 10th in the League. The team missed his offensive prowess in Game 1, but they got motivated seeing him on the ice on Monday. “A good sign,” Maple Leafs captain John Tavares said. “We know what he means to our hockey club, so great that he was out there.”   After Game 1, Keefe and other players mentioned how Toronto powered through key absences during the regular season, and will have to do the same in Game 2 if Nylander is absent. “They’re taking care of him, so it’s [only] a matter of time until he’s back in the lineup,” Maple Leafs forward Nicholas Robertson said. “We’ve got to do what we can without him and hopefully get a win tonight.”

nfl prospect aj simon dies on week before draft

NFL prospect AJ Simon dies one week before draft

College football player Amitral “AJ” Simon is dead. He died just one week before he might have fulfilled his pro ball dreams, his former university announced Wednesday. Simon, 25, transferred to the University of Albany in New York, where he played as a defensive lineman with the Great Danes in 2022 and 2023. The Danes said on their social media page that they will miss AJ “profoundly.” “AJ was a tremendous young man and even better teammate throughout this time at UAlbany,” the school said.”He was a role model on and off the field, serving as a pillar to this program over the last two years.” However, no one from AJ’s side has given a cause of the death. Simon was eligible for this week’s NFL draft and according to NBC Sport, had recently visited New England.  He announced his decision to join the draft in December after his team on the team ended. Simon described his collegiate career with the Great Dane as “pivotal” in shaping his path to the NFL draft. He said it made him a better person on and off the field. AJ wrote, “I am thrilled to represent the University of Albany as I take this next step in my football career.” “Sad that it’s over, but grateful that it happened. On that note, I will enter my name in the 2024 NFL Draft.” The Coastal Athletic Association named AJ Simon and other players in February that made the Comissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. This list requires students to maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average.

kansas city chiefs wr rashee rice faces suspension

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice faces suspension

The Kansas City Chiefs seem to be without wide receiver Rashee Rice for some part of the 2024 NFL season. Adam Schefter has reported the potential length of a pending suspension. Rashee Rice is facing criminal charges and lawsuits for his alleged role in starting a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas, Texas in late March. An NFL insider has revealed more information on how the league may handle Rice’s offseason problems. Shefter of ESPN wrote what he heard around the NFL as the 2024 NFL Draft approaches. His comments about the Chiefs are receiver-heavy, beginning with his expectations for Rice’s possible suspension. “He is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury,” Schefter writes. “He turned himself in to police last week at the Regional Jail in DeSoto, Texas, before being released on bond. On top of the legal issues and lawsuit he is facing Rice is expected to be disciplined by the NFL, resulting in at least a multi-game suspension.” What does Adam Schefter’s report spell for Rice? Schefter’s phrase “at least a multi-game suspension” is interesting for certain reasons. First, it sets the stage. The NFL could suspend Rice for at least two matches. Besides that, what does Schefter mean by “at least? ” Technically, a 16-game suspension would be “multi-game’’ but less than a year-long ban. Based on Schefter’s phrasing, “multi-game’’ could be anything from a two-game suspension to an eight-game suspension. More than eight matches would be more than half of a season.   Realistically, one would argue that the reporter inferred a two-to-six-game suspension for Rice in that phrasing (with NFL precedent leaning toward the four-to-six-game range). However, the NFL will suspend Rashee Rice for “at least” two matches.
