The Mets are third in stolen-base percentage, fourth in home runs, eight in strikeout percentage, and 13th in walk percentage. Jose Quintana will pitch for New York, he has not done well on the road this term. Quintana has a 5.63 ERA in road matches. However, he had a good June, marked by the Mets winning four of his five starts. Overall, Quintana has 4.57 ERA, 4.90 FIP, and 1.367 WHIP. Fortunately, Jake Irving will take the mound for the Mets today. His sophomore campaign is made up of a 3.03 ERA, 3.53 FIP, and 1.061 WHIP. Irvin had a 2.31 ERA in six June starts, which gave the Nationals a 5-1 record. Washington needs more work offensively. The team averaged 4.12 runs per match, 20th in the majors. The Nationals were aggressive on the bases, which led to third-most steals. This lineup has the league’s 10th-lowest strikeout rate. But, Washington is 29th in homers. They are 21st in batting average, 24th in OBP, and 27th in slugging percentage. MatchPlug Prediction For Washington Nationals VS New York Mets It is hard to defeat Jake Irvin, who had a super June (2.31 ERA). He also has a 2.53 ERA in nine daytime starts this campaign. Irvin can have a great start against the Mets and give the bullpen a shorter leash. The major issue for Washington in this series has been staying in the lead for nine innings. Scoring more would help, and they’re facing Jose Quintana. Quintana has a 5.59 ERA against the NL East and a 5.63 ERA on the road. The Nationals will score early and defeat the Mets. Final Prediction: Washington Nationals Moneyline.

brady experesses one regret about career

Tom Brady expresses his one regret about celebrated career

Tom Brady had a dedicated approach to football during his career in the NFL that was well documented.  During an interview with “The Pivot’’ podcast, the seven-time Super Bowl winner shared some regret about his fierce method. “What I would have changed was, ‘OK, there’s part of me that still loves …’ You see these young players. I see, like, Patrick [Mahomes] out there at quarterback, laughing, having fun,” Brady told former NFL players and current podcast co-hosts Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder in May.  “I’m like, ‘I used to be like that!’ What the hell happened to me? I just got too serious.” Brady appeared to have a serious and debatedly robotic approach that the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick had during the franchise’s unprecedented era of success. Whenever Brady got emotional, he would get in his teammates’ faces to yell at them on the sideline or smash a table. But he got less uptight when he left the Patriots to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. Brady announced that he would retire from the NFL “for good’’ after the 2022 season. The NFL icon is now gearing up to join the broadcasting booth. He, and NFL on FOX play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt, will call the Dallas Cowboys Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns on September 8th. The game will mark his debut as FOX Sports’ lead NFL analyst. Brady also stepped into the broadcast booth during last month’s UFL Championship match. As Brady prepares for the next step in his career, he also reflected on the things he could have done differently. “You just learn from it, and go, ‘OK, now the next phase of life, enjoy it a little more,’” Brady said. He also talked about the challenges he faced during the early years of his career. “So much [of], I think, the early part of my career was trying to fulfil people’s new expectations of me and me still being the 14-year-old boy that wanted to fit in. I was like, ‘I just want to go to the field and play,’” Brady said. “Now, there were all these other things to choose from. “Next thing you know, you’re overwhelmed because you didn’t sleep, you didn’t eat right, you were partying. I’m like, ‘I don’t really like the way I’m feeling.’” Brady had an eventful few months leading up to his highly awaited transition to broadcasting. New England held a star-packed Hall of Fame induction ceremony for him at Gillette Stadium in June.

parsons receives bad news about extension with cowboys

Micah Parsons receives bad news about proposed contract extension with the Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys pursue their first Super Bowl title since 1995 and like any other team that sees itself as a championship contender, they had to make some tough choices about what to do as some of their key players’ contracts come to an end. This decision somehow involves Micah Parsons. Quarterback Dak Prescott is possibly the most pressing case, as the league’s leader in touchdown passes in 2023 is entering the last year of his deal in 2023. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb hopes to reset the market for his spot, but Dallas have not clarified his future too with free agency looming. Parsons is another key player who will need a new contract with the Cowboys, but he may be disheartened to learn that he will need to be a bit patient. Cowboys safety Malik Hooker recently sat with ex Dallas receiver Keyshawn Johnson on FOX Sports’ “All Facts No Break.” He told Johnson that if he were Jerry Jones, he would rather extend Lamb and Prescott’s contracts, before coming to two-time All-Pro Parson’s deal. “I feel like CeeDee should be paid first for the simple fact of what he does for us, how valuable he is for us, the leader he is for us as a team,” Hooker said in comments that could upset Prescott as well as Parsons. Lamb, who delivered 12 touchdowns last year, could become a free agent after the 2024 campaign if Dallas does not give him a contract. Parsons has a little time to wait after the Cowboys picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal. His contract expires after 2025, and Hooker’s comment may just be a reflection of this reality. However, Parsons could use Hooker’s comments as motivation in 2024. The edge rusher finished second or third in Defensive Player of the Year voting in all of his three NFL seasons, and if he  wins that award in year four, his contractual status will become hard to ignore.

MiLB Captains makes new proposal for fans convenience

The Lake County Captains are a small team on the outskirts of Cleveland, founded in 2003 as an affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians of the MLB, which has counted among its ranks illustrious Major League players like Francisco Lindor (now playing for the New York Mets); Chris Archer (ex Tampa Bay) and Jose Ramirez (currently with the Cleveland Guardians). For the present season, the Captains wanted their appeal to go beyond their county, and now they have reached an agreement with a local toilet company to give their fans the unique experience of watching their favourite sport from a privileged area of the field and in a privileged seat. The Classic Park in East Lake, Ohio, has had some of the most comfortable seats in the American sports circuit for the last few days, and in the world. For a price of 16 or 25 dollars, fans can relax and watch an awesome strike or homerun from the “Toilet Row’’. In a baseball stadium with a capacity of over 7,200 spectators. The locals have put this row at the edge of the field and it has every amenity. The Captains present this proposal under the slogan: “Why sit on the toilet looking at your mobile phone when you can sit and watch the whole baseball game?’’ Furthemore, the team presents the proposal in this attractive way:  “In an attempt to combine comfort with a touch of fun, the County Captains, in partnership, present this unique seating experience; an innovative first […] that will offer fans the opportunity to enjoy the game from the comfort of the high-end luxury toilets in the home dugout”. Real Madrid midfielder Bellingham risks Euros ban amidst UEFA Probe

The Three Lions were down 1-0 in their match with Slovakia before Jude Bellingham equalised for the team in the 95th minute.  A UEFA spokesperson said: “Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct by the English FA player, Jude Bellingham, having allegedly occurred in the scope of this match.” During the game, Bellingham seemed to gesture in the direction of the crowd, before mouthing “who else” in reference to himself. The Real Madrid star may be banned if found guilty, as FIFA rules state:  “Anyone who insults someone in any way, especially by using offensive gestures or language, or who violates the principles of fair pay or whose behaviour is unsporting in any other way may be subject to sanctions in accordance with art. 10 ff.” Bellingham wrote on social media post-game: “An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game. Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight.”

thompson signs 3-year $50m deal with dallas mavericks

Klay Thompson signs 3-year $50M deal with Dallas Mavericks

Klay Thompson has accepted a three-year $50 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks, ending his epic 13-year run with the Golden State Warriors. Sources told ESPN this on Monday. Thompson’s contract was significantly influenced by the chance to compete for a fifth title with the Western Conference champions Mavericks. Greg Lawrence of Wasserman (Thompson’s agent) negotiated the deal, it required a multiteam sign-and-trade that sends Dallas guard/forward Josh Green to the Charlotte Hornets and two second-round picks to the Warriors.  The Mavericks will send their 2031 second-round pick in the deal including the least favourable of the 76ers or Nuggets’ second-round pick in 2025, a source said. Lawrence and Thompson met Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison and VP Michael Finley at the Bottle Inn in Hermosa Beach, California, to delve into the details of a Thompson-Mavericks partnership. The Los Angeles Lakers were enticing to Thompson, but how much money he would save from living in Texas over California and the fact the Dallas Mavericks were three wins away from an NBA championship were major factors in his decision.  In the last season of Klay’s noteworthy 13-year run with the Warriors, his relationship with the franchise became strained due to contract discussions and his impending free agency. His departure became more apparent as the season progressed. His sadness grew as his role with the Warriors changed throughout the campaign; highlighted by him being removed from the closing lineup in early February and moving to a bench role later that month. Thompson, 32 averaged 17.9 points last season, his lowest since 2012-13. Klay’s tenure with the Golden State earns his place in the franchise and NBA history solidified. Curry, Thomposon, and Draymond Green contributed 518 victories in the regular season and playoffs, sixth most by a trio all time. Their 98th playoff victory together is third in NBA history and their four titles are tied with Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, and Tony Parker for the most by an All-NBA trio over the last 50 seasons. The Warriors wished Thompson well in a statement released on Monday, saying they look forward to retiring his No. 11 jersey. “The amount of joy and happiness that Klay provided Warriors fans, Bay Area natives and Dub Nation supporters all around the world has been immense and cannot be minimised,” the statement read. “His penchant for delivering in pressurised situations on the biggest stage, including many Game 6 heroics, has helped define a career. “Klay’s legacy will live on forever and we look forward to the day we can retire his #11 jersey at Chase Center where he will join a host of Warriors immortals, including those who helped shape this recent dynasty — himself included. “We thank Klay for his contributions and wish him the best as another chapter in his journey is written.”

Trippier’s wife Charlotte posted on Instagram: “Sooner or later you get over the s*** you swore you’d never get over and it’s the best feeling in the world.”  She then followed that post with the words: “The sun is shining. Euro 2024 Match Previews For Round Of 16  After 36 games, the Euro 2024 has moved on to the knockout stages, starting with the round of 16 which begins on the 29th of June 2024. On that note, let us examine the Euro 2024 match previews for all eight round of 16 matches: 1. Switzerland VS Italy Switzerland has played surprisingly well so far in the tournament and came close to defeating Germany to top Group A. That was probably the best goal they’ve ever given up as they are in the easiest half of the draw. The match with the Germans proved that the Swiss have good defense. They were aggressive, well-organized, and managed to hold off the hosts for 92 minutes. Besides their opening match loss to Hungary, Switzerland’s attack has struggled. They managed just four shots against the Germans and required Xherdan Shaqiri to score a wonder strike to defeat Scotland. Italy on the other hand, waited until the last minute to clinch a spot in the last 16. They need Mattia Zaccagni to score in the 98th minute to play out a draw against Croatia. The Azzurri also struggled with their attack, starting their first two group games with a striker who scored only once in 19 international appearances.  Against Croatia, Mateo Retegui got a chance to lead the line, extending a drought that saw him score just once in his last 13 appearances for team and country. Head-to-head Stats For Switzerland VS Italy This match has ”Under” written all over it, and it won’t be shocking if both teams were to drag things out until penalties. Switzerland and Italy competed in the qualifying group at the 2021 World Cup and drew 0-0 and 1-1. The Swiss have drawn six of their last 10 internationals with eight ending Under 2.5 goals, while six of the last eight Italian fixtures have ended in two or fewer goals. Read the preview: Switzerland VS Italy: Preview and Expert Football Prediction. 2. Germany VS Denmark  Germany and Denmark will reenact the 1992 Euro final when they clash in Dortmund on Saturday 29th June, 2024. While the hosts have been undefeated in the contest with two wins and a draw, Denmark is yet to get a victory, ending all their group matches in a draw and scoring twice. Entering this match as the underdogs, Denmark will take inspiration from their wondrous Euro 1992 finals performance in Gothenburg. In that game, they pulled off one of the largest final upsets ever, defeating Germany who were world champions then, by a 2-0 score to win their first and only major football title. The Danes will look to midfielder Christian Eriksen and forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Jonas Wind to subdue Germany, who have a star packed lineup featuring Euro 2024’s joint-second top scorers Jamal Musiala and Niclas Fullkrug, including breakout star Florian Wirtz. Before the knockout game, Julian Nagelsmann will make the hard decision: keep faith in underwhelming Kai Havertz in the starting lineup or star Fullkrug after his stoppage-time equalizer off the bench in the last match against Switzerland. Head-to-Head Stats For Germany VS Denmark Historically, Germany is almost unbeatable once they advance to the knockout stage at the Euros. All the 10 times Germany has advanced, they’ve reached the semifinals nine times and the final six. Die Mannschaft are on the same level as Spain with three European Football Championship titles. Defeating Denmark in the round of 16 will put them one step closer to securing a fourth title; an honour as hosting nation. It will also be a perfect send off for Tooni Kroos, who will retire from football after the contest. However, Denmark who reached the semifinals at the last edition of Euro 2020, are no easy pushovers for Germany. Read the preview: Germany VS Denmark: Preview and Expert Football Prediction. 3. England VS Slovakia  England lost momentum after their first three performances, but they topped their group and

Euro 2024 Dark Horse Teams

Euro 2024 is down to the last 16 teams, as eight of them go home after an exhilarating group stage. Fans watched Albania, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Croatia, Ukraine, and Scotland exit the tournament, while other nations qualified for the Round of 16. Amongst these qualifying countries, some teams referred to as “Dark Horses”, unwanted outsiders have shockingly qualified as well. This post discusses those Euro 2024 Dark Horse Teams. So far, the Euros have been full of twists, but what stood out the most is that where preferred favourites such as England and France have struggled, the dark horse teams like Austria, Turkey, Georgia, and Switzerland scaled through easily to appear in the next round.  As the 16 lucky teams gear up to compete for the Round of 16 and eventually the finals on July 14th, MatchPlug believes that those dark horses deserve to be recognized for the outstanding performance they put on during the group stages.  Table of contents: What is a dark horse? 10 Euro 2024 dark horse teams Euro 2024 dark horse teams that qualified for the round of 16 What Is A Dark Horse? A dark horse is an unpopular candidate or competitor, who unexpectedly wins or succeeds in a competition. UEFA expanding the European Championship means unwanted teams have more chances to make their presence felt at the competition.  What Are Some Rules For Euro 2024 Dark Horse Teams There are some rules surrounding Euro 2024 dark horse teams that help you identify them at major tournaments like the Euros.  1. Dark horses are not ranked among the pre-tournament favourites. Countries like Georgia and Austria were not when the contest began. These teams were put down behind the usual favourites Germany, Spain, France, England, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands.  2. Dark horses cannot have much historical pedigree. Austria haven’t had this in modern ages since the 1954 World Cup, when they finished third, and have reached just one knockout stage at any international tournament. At Euro 2020, Italy defeated them in the last 16.  3. Dark horses may have an impressive recent record which is usually overlooked. Austria entered the euros undefeated in seven games and teased their ferocious attacking abilities by beating Turkey 6-1 in March.  4. Dark horses always have an air of mystery around them, either secretly talented players or a mythical coach. In the case of Austria (again) Marcel Sabitzer, Patrick Wimmer, Christoph Baumgartner, and Marko Arnautovic held the fort down. Their coach Ralf Ragnick was also excellent. 7 Euro 2024 Dark Horse Teams 1. Austria 2. Georgia 3. Slovenia 4. Turkey 5. Netherlands 6. Denmark 7. Italy Euro 2024 Dark Horse Teams That Qualified For The Round Of 16 In this section, we examine some of the Euro 2024 dark horses that certainly produced shocking results in the tournament, defied all odds to make it to the round of 16, and topped their group ahead of the preferred favourites.  Below are some of the Euro 2024 dark horse teams that are still going strong in the tournament: 1. Austria Austria officially became a dark horse in the tournament when the pressure began to increase and favourites like England and France cracked in the heat of battle. The Austrians brought to the contest thrilling football, a transformed tactical approach, and a sense of national pride. They first announced their presence by excellent friendly victories over Germany and Italy. After they lost 1-0 to France in their first Euro 2024 match, they went on to beat Poland 3-1. Austria finally sealed their place in the round of 16 by a 3-2 beating of Netherlands.  They finished the group stages of the contest by topping Group D with 6 points ahead of France and are set to face Turkey as their first opponents in the round of 16. 2. Georgia As a team playing in its first ever European championship, Georgia delivered what is considered perhaps the most remarkable performance in this year’s euros. This debutante defeated the almighty Portugal by a 2-0 scoreline to steal a spot in the round of 16.  The Georgian national team has had a quiet confidence rising within it since they eliminated Greece in a penalty shoot out to secure a place at Germany. Their Euro run has been filled with ups and downs since then. First they lost 1-0 to Turkey, drew with Czechia, and then beat Portugal at the dying minutes of the group stage to stay in the competition.  Georgia is set to face Spain on the 29th of June 2024 for the round 16 and we hope this team survives La Roja’s brutality. 3. Slovenia Just like Georgia, there was little information this summer about Slovenia which ranked 57th in the world; only two nations competing in Germany this year are lower in FIFA standings. Unlike Georgia, Slovenia did not put its hopes in the array of talent around the pitch but on just one star they have in their squad, Benjamin Šeško. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the Leipzig forward has been associated with bigger clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Milan this summer and his price may only increase further with his recent performance at the Euro. Meanwhile, Slovenia sealed the deal with a timely 0-0 stalemate with favourites England to enter the round of 16.  4. Turkey Turkey began its start to the Euro 2024 with a spectacular 3-1 beating of Georgia thanks to two long range strikes and a destabilising counter attack. This performance wiped out the disappointment of their campaign last time out at the Euro 2020, which was ridden with injury and uncertain management.  In the match with Georgia, Mert Muldur and wonderkid Arda Guler helped the Turks take the lead before Muhammed Kerem Aktürkoğlu sealed the victory. Since then, Turkey has survived a 3-0 lashing from Portugal and defeated Czechia 3-1 to enter the next stage of the contest.  There is a lot of talent locked away in this team and they are
