Los Angeles will want to continue their undefeated streak to seven games when they meet with Philadelphia today in Los Angeles Galaxy VS Philadelphia Union at Dignity Health Sports Park. MLS Picks: MONEYLINE 2.41 Odds by 1XBet. Betting On Los Angeles Galaxy  1XBet Spread: 0 1XBet Over/Under: Over 3 1XBet Moneyline: 2.41 Los Angeles Galaxy serves up its share of thrills, and last weekend’s game with Los Angeles FC was no different, as they secured a 2-1 victory over LAFC in the presence of a record MLS crowd. Galaxy has evaded defeat in every of their last 6 matches, defeating Real Salt Lake before getting four consecutive draws, with last weekend’s win extending their fire streak. However, do keep in mind that LA Galaxy managed to win only two of their opening 14 MLS games this year, recording three draws and nine losses in that process, so they still have lots of work to do if they wish to make it to playoffs. Another thing to note is that Galaxy has the worst defensive record and the second-worst offensive record in the Western Conference, meaning they must improve on both sides. Possible Lineup: Bond, Calegari, Leerdam, Mavinga, Edwards; Delgado, Burgman, Puig, Boyd, Judd, Costa. Betting On Philadelphia Union 1XBet Spread: 0 1XBet Over/Under: Under 3 1XBet Moneyline: 2.904 Philadelphia Union racked up a nine-game undefeated streak between April and June, securing 7 wins and 2 draws in the MLS, they seem fated to win the Eastern Conference.  But, the team has struggled to stay consistent since that time, clinching one win, one draw and two defeats, and have failed on the road in recent weeks, taking just one point from their last three road matches. The Union enter today’s match with a 2-0 defeat against Atlanta United, with them mustering a sole attempt on their opponent at Mercedes Benz Stadium last weekend. Although, Philadelphia stays five points inside the top seven teams in the Eastern Conference and 15 points higher than Los Angeles in overall standings – winning 10 of their 20 league encounters this year. Possible Lineup: Bendik, Glesnes, Elliott, Harriel, Mbaizo, Bedoya, Martinez, Flach, Gazdag, Carranza, Uhre. MatchPlug Prediction LA Galaxy may have improved their performance in recent weeks, but the Philadelphia Union still has what it takes to win the Western Conference team. Galaxy will put up a strong fight, but the Union may secure a close victory at Dignity Health, as they get back to winning.  Final Prediction: Los Angeles Galaxy Moneyline. Manchester United prepared to offer Mason Greenwood to Atalanta on a loan

Manchester United are reportedly looking to use Mason Greenwood as a possible makeweight in their bid to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.  The Red Devils are interested in signing a striker and have made Hojlund their primary target. However, talks have been hampered by Atalanta’s £86m valuation of the 20-year-old Denmark international. United are now looking to add a player to the deal, with Greenwood seen as the ideal option. United has suspended the Englishman for 17 months following his arrest in January 2022 on suspicion of rape and assault and did not report for pre-season training with his teammates this week. Read more: Manchester United make new £43m offer for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana The Old Trafford side have been conducting an internal investigation since the Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against Greenwood in February, and the likelihood is that the 21-year-old striker will be loaned out to a European club for the forthcoming season. According to Sportsmail, United’s football director John Murtough has discussed the possibility of Greenwood making a temporary move to Atalanta during his negotiations with the Italian club over Hojlund. Including Greenwood as part of the deal to sign Hojlund could lower Atalanta’s asking price and resolve the complicated issue of what to do with Greenwood, who is still under contract for another two years.

Teams to play: American League and National League. MLB Expert Picks: MONEYLINE – 1.946 Odds by 1XBet and BetMGM. Betting On The American League 1XBet Spread: +1.5 1XBet Moneyline: 1.946 1XBet Over/Under: Over 7.5 BetMGM Spread: +1.5 BetMGM Moneyline: 1.91 BetMGM Over/Under: Under 7.5 The lineup for the American League is just as thrilling if not more impressive than that of the National League. But, nominated starters Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) and Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels may not be available at all to participate in the 2023 MLB All-Star Game. Judge and Trout are already on the injured list so they’ll definitely not be showing up for Tuesday’s action. While Ohtani’s presence is questionable. On that note, there are lots of excellent offensive talent in the American League even without the big three players. Randy Arozarena (Tampa Bay Rays), Marcus Semien (Texas Rangers), Corey Seager (Rangers), and Yandy Diaz (Rays) will bring their strength to the starting unit of the AL.  However, the real power of this team is in its pitching with players like Gerrit Cole (New York Yankees), Framber Valdez (Houston Astros), and Luis Castillo (Seattle Mariners) leading the AL on the mound. Castillo is experienced is familiar with the venue of this event as it’s in Seattle. This is also an advantage for George Kirby another Mariners All-Star.  Starting pitcher: TBA. Betting On The National League 1XBet Spread: -1.5 1XBet Moneyline: 1.995 1XBet Over/Under: Under 7.5 BetMGM Spread: -1.5 BetMGM Moneyline: 1.91 BetMGM Over/Under: Over 7.5 The National League lineup is loaded, which can be said confidently, especially as it has the creme de la creme of the NL during the first half of the 2023 MLB regular season. NL’s offense has ex-NL MVP Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers. There is Luis Arraez of the Miami Marlins. Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Atlanta Braves will join Freeman and Arraez. These three will carry this unit for the team. Arraez is a top candidate to become the first player since 1953 to hit .400 in a season. Acuna has already made history as the first player in MLB history to reach 20 home runs, 50 RBI, and 40 stolen bases. Also starting for the National League are Sean Murphy (Braves), Nolan Arenado (St. Louis Cardinals), Orlando Arcia (Braves), Mookie Betts (Dodgers), Corbin Carroll (Arizona Diamondbacks), and JD Martinez (Dodgers). Taking the mound for the National League is another strong cast in Spencer Strider (Braves), Mitch Keller (Pittsburgh Pirates), Zac Gallen (Diamondbacks), and Marcus Stroman (Chicago Cubs). Starting pitcher: TBA. MatchPlug Prediction The American League enters this 2023 MLB All-Star Game matchup on a nine-game win streak. They also lead the all-time series, 47-43. But experts take the National League to put an end to their long drought and win the 2023 edition of the Midsummer Classic. National League is packed with powerhouses, especially the offense unit. While the AL will be playing without Judge and Trout, the NL has all their best players ready for battle. Final Prediction: American League Moneyline. The ex-Cy Young Award winner seems to be the ideal man for the job on the mound for his team, which looked generally well lately, winning three of their last four games. Snell’s last start ended in a 10-3 win for the Padres against the Los Angeles Angels at home last Monday when he pitched five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.  Backing Snell is the Padres’ offense which is supporting him with 4.50 runs per nine innings. Juan Soto leads the Padres this year with a .915 OPS while Fernando Tatis Jr. is slashing .287/.346/.528 while leading the team too with 16 homers. Starting pitcher: Blake Snell (5-7, 3.03 ERA). Betting On The New York Mets 1XBet Spread: +1.5 1XBet Moneyline: 2.465 1XBet Over/Under: Under 8.5 BetMGM Spread: +1.5 BetMGM Moneyline: 2.45 BetMGM Over/Under: Over 8.5 The New York Mets are finishing the first half of the 2023 MLB regular season on a solid note, but they can build more momentum by defeating the blazing Padres to open a new series this Friday. David Peterson will take the mound for the Mets today, he is off an impressive performance in an 8-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants at home last Sunday. Peterson permitted only an earned run on three hits in four innings in that competition. Peterson’s ERA is nothing to write home about, but he’s doing the work to lower it over his last few starts as he continues to improve. Last May, his ERA was 8.08 but is now at 6.61 after two starts. The Mets on the other hand will stay hot on offense when they meet Snell. New York players have a career batting average of .281 against Snell. Pete Alonso is a 5-for-13 lifetime in that matchup. Starting pitcher: David Peterson (2-6, 6.61 ERA). MatchPlug Prediction The Padres’ bullpen got spent in the loss to the Mets on Friday, which could be an issue for the team even with Snell pitching well. Take New York to win. Final Prediction: San Diego Moneyline. Grove rebounded from a disappointing performance in a 9-8 defeat to the Colorado Rockies on the road on June 28 by winning the Pittsburgh Pirates in a home game last Monday. With the Pirates, Grove permitted only a run on five hits, although in just four innings of a 5-2 victory by the Dodgers, whose offense will also be a big problem for Reid Detmers of the Angels. Mookie Betts hit .341 with six home runs and 14 RBU in his last 13 matches. David Peralta slashed .326/.362/.512 in the same span, while Freddie Freeman former National League MVP put together a .320/.346/.520 triple slash line in the last six matches. Starting pitcher: Michael Grove (0-2, 7.02 ERA). Betting On The Los Angeles Angels 1XBet Spread: +6.5 1XBet Moneyline: 26.00 1XBet Over/Under: Over 12.5 BetMGM Spread: +6.5 BetMGM Moneyline: BetMGM Over/Under: Over 12.5 Reid Detmers will pitch in the penultimate game of the first half of the season for the Los Angeles Angels. Detmers feels good after a top performance in his most current start where he allowed only two earned runs on three hits in 6.0 innings of a 5-2 victory at home over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Making it two consecutive wins for the Angels when Detmers starts. Detmers has gradually reduced his ERA in all his last five starts and will enter tomorrow morning’s game carrying a 2-0 record with a 1.42 ERA over that stretch. While he is winless this year in road starts so far, Detmers looks good in his last appearance away from Anaheim, conceding just an earned run on three this with eight strikeouts in a 6-3 defeat in Arlington to the division leaders Texas Rangers on 14th June. Starting pitcher: Reid Detmers (2-5, 3.72 ERA). MatchPlug Prediction Los Angeles Dodgers will sweep the Angels with another absolute victory, thanks to their strong offense.  Final Prediction: Dodgers Moneyline. Kylian Mbappe ‘would join Arsenal’ if he was to move to the Premier League

Kylian Mbappe would reportedly prefer a move to Arsenal if he were to come to the Premier League. The Frenchman’s future is under intense speculation after he announced that he will not extend his one-year contract next season. Paris Saint-Germain have offered him the option of extending his contract at Parc des Princes, or he will get sold this summer. His long-term admirers Real Madrid are reportedly looking at bringing him to the Bernabeu, but Los Blancos are unwilling to match PSG’s demands. Read more: Granit Xhaka leaves Arsenal for Bayer Leverkusen As such, it’s unlikely Mbappe will move this summer and even more unlikely he will head to the Premier League. However, he is thought to be a big admirer of Mikel Arteta and his team. However, The Independent claim there has been no contact between the two clubs and the 24-year-old is seen to be way beyond Arsenal’s transfer budget. But, the reports claim that Mbappe is a fan of how the Spaniard is developing his team and is intrigued by the idea of helping the club deliver a domestic title.  Arteta led Arsenal to second in the Premier League last season, pushing Manchester City in their bid to win the Gunners their first league title since 2004.

carroll injury main issue for diamondbacks

Carroll injury main issue for Diamondbacks despite being swept

Thursday night was bad in all shapes and forms for the Arizona Diamondbacks after they were shut out for the first time this season, losing 9-0 to the New York Mets. However, what drew the most concern in the midst of the loss was Corbin Carroll and his shoulder discomfort.  The Diamondbacks got swept in a three-game series, for the first time this year. This was their fourth consecutive loss, their longest losing streak of the year. Most concerning of everything that happened was the team watching again, star tookie Corbin Carroll exit a game because of discomfort in his right shoulder. Carroll missed a swing at a change-up from Carlos Carrasco in the seventh and then grabbed his right shoulder. He held his right arm close to his body and quickly walked off the pitch with an athletic trainer. This is the second time in the last week that Carroll’s shoulder acted up. Last Thursday he swung at a pitch and felt discomfort in the shoulder. He remained in the match for another half-inning before he left. That same right shoulder was what made Carroll miss almost the whole 2021 season following surgery to repair the posterior capsular avulsion and labrum tear. Arizona ran strength tests on Carroll after the game and confirmed that his shoulder was strong and stable. He did not start the following two games before pinch-hitting on Sunday. Chosen to be a starter for the National League in next week’s All-Star Game, Carroll began all three matches of the current series with the New York Mets. Again, Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo said the first tests on Carroll’s shoulder showed it stable and that he had good strength in it. But, now, he will be sent for an MRI to find out what is causing the discomfort. “Things checked out a little bit more positively than I was expecting based on what I saw,” Lovullo said. “We all saw the same thing. And you know, it didn’t look good. So for the last three or four innings [of the game] all I was thinking about was ‘How’s Corbin? How’s he emotionally? How’s he physically?’ There’s going to be some imaging tomorrow morning where we’re going to find out what’s going on in there but it’s more positive than I was thinking after I saw what I saw.” Carroll is one player Arizona can least afford to lose, at this point in the year he is the front-runner to win NL Rookie of the Year. Despite him being in the lineup, the Diamondbacks still fell out of the game against New York on Thursday.  Wednesday’s loss was a disheartening 2-1 loss where they were one strike away from winning 1-0 before the Mets got two in the ninth and Lovullo proposed that they may have been a hangover from that game that led to this match getting out of control that early. Ryne Nelson the starter, who was fresh off two fantastic starts, could not ward the hitters off, while the Diamondbacks allowed a popup fall which added to a five-run New York third inning. They had a runner picked off first with two outs and slugger Christian Walker up in the first inning. “It was a bad game, it was a bad effort in a lot of different ways,” Lovullo said. “They came out hot, swung the bats and just beat us. You know that happens. For these three days, we didn’t play D-backs baseball. Everything was just adding up in a very negative way. It was a total clunker.  We’ve got to find a way to get it turned around.” Related News: Why the Los Angeles Angels will not trade Ohtani Eovaldi updates All-Star résumé by shutting down Houston AstrosJustin Verlander ‘phenomenal’ as Mets hit trio of HRs

angels will not trade shohei ohtani

Why the Los Angeles Angels will not trade Ohtani

There is a question mark surrounding Shohei Ohtani’s future now that Mike Trout is set to miss the next month, maybe longer. This is happening after the Los Angeles Angels were swept by the San Diego Padres, the most unsuccessful game of a horror stretch where they lost 11 of 15. Few people in MLB view the Angels’ precipitous fall as a sign that they will trade Ohtani before the August 1 Trade Deadline. In a different world, star pitchers on expiring contracts are sold for a high price. But the Angels are not that kind of team. They play in a world where Ohtani is one of the most special athletes to ever exist. Guaranteed, buying a collection of young talent is appealing. Los Angeles has two prospects in the industry’s Top 100, according to MLB Pipeline; the highest-ranked of the two players is catcher Logan O’ Hoppe who is recovering from left shoulder surgery. To be sure, the team’s baseball operations staff will communicate with other clubs to workshop trade situations if the Los Angeles’ slide persists. That duty falls to the front office. However, offering a favourable deal to ownership, and getting approval for it, is a completely different matter. If the Angels wanted to maximize Shohei’s trade value, they would have transferred him last year, when they were lesser competitors in the standings and the extra-contractual control would have had more value. Even if they miss the postseason, there is still some value in retaining Ohtani on the roster until he reaches free agency. They get viewership numbers every time he plays. Marketing revenues and sponsorships are attached to his presence. There is a highly realistic chance of him winning his second American League MVP Award. Ohtani heads the Majors with 31 home runs, which places him on pace for 56 over the full season. If fans think he is a global sensation now, they should wait until he starts slugging in September with a chance to reach 60 homers. Angels fans or an executive watching Shohei accomplish these things in another team’s uniform will leave them feeling empty. This is why a situation where they trade him is impossible. Ohtani’s game cap might no longer have its halo by Opening Day 2024. This is relevant too, as the Angel’s long relationship with him will be moulded by the manner in which they part. If he is made a solid offer in free agency, but he chooses to sign with a consistent playoff team. It will be hard for an objective witness to blame either party for their actions. In contrast, a midseason transfer for “maximizing asset value’’ would reduce any chance of Ohtani returning in free agency and may affect the way he will be connected to the organization after his career. Los Angeles may hush the talks of a trade by winning more matches, but this won’t be easy. They end the first half with the LA Dodgers and open the second half against the Houston Astros who are World Series champions. Trout will be absent from the lineup while he recovers from hamate surgery, and Ohtani’s next pitching task is uncertain after his most recent start left him with a blister on his right middle finger. The Angels who had the fourth-best record in the American League on June 18 are now trailing behind the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox for the third and final Wild Card spot. Shohei joining Los Angeles Angels in December 2017 is one of the best trades in sports history, due to the international transfer rules that oversaw the move. All he has done since his signing is to elevate baseball domestically and internationally, with a series of achievements that no one has attained previously. The Angels got value from this relationship a long time ago. Related News: Eovaldi updates All-Star résumé by shutting down Houston Astros.Justin Verlander ‘phenomenal’ as Mets hit trio of HRs.

jonathan quick relishes mentor role for rangers

Jonathan Quick to relish mentor role as Rangers backup goaltender

Jonathan Quick was a backup goaltender acting as a mentor at the end of last season with the Vegas Golden Knights. He got his third Stanley Cup championship. He is going to try for another championship cup this season, this time for all 82 matches and hopefully, another long stay in the Stanley Cup Playoffs while living his dream and serving as a goalie who is considered to be one of the best in the world. Quick entered a one-year contract worth $825,000 with the New York Rangers on July 1 to be Igor Shesterkin’s backup, who received the 2022 Vezina Trophy selected as the NHL’s best goaltender and was eighth in voting last season. Hailing from Milford, Connecticut, 70 miles outside New York City, Quick grew up having a poster of Mike Richter on his bedroom wall and was eight years old when he watched Richter assist his favourite team to win the Stanley Cup in 1994. “Growing up watching the Rangers as a kid, this is just an opportunity you can’t turn down,” Quick said Monday. “Just want to make the most of it.” Jonathan Quick said the chance he has with New York, and the one he got with Vegas last season, supporting Adin Hill on the Stanley Cup run, was not in his books.  “Up until about five months ago, I thought I was going to be retiring a King,” Quick said. “Those were the discussions that were had.” Then the Los Angeles Kings where he won the Cup in 2012 and 2014, and the only team he had played for in an NHL career that kickstarted his debut on December 6, 2007, traded him to the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 1. One day later, Columbus sent him to the Golden Knights. Quick appeared in 10 games for the Knights in the regular season and suited up for one of the first eight playoff matches before Laurent Brossoit got injured in Game 3 of the Western Conference Second Round against the Edmonton Oilers. He was Hill’s substitute for the rest of the season. But he was more of a backup. He was Hill’s partner, sounding board and mentor. “Unbelievable,” Hill said when asked about Quick after Vegas won the Stanley Cup at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on June 13. “I talked to him all the time. Quick has been an awesome guy. He’s one of the best guys I’ve met in the hockey world.” Being the No.1 goalie since 2008-09 in LA, Quick quickly got used to his new role as the backup/mentor to the Golden Knights. He liked it but does not know how much mentoring he will have to do with Shesterkin in New York. “Igor, he’s Igor, and he doesn’t need too much mentorship with as good as he is and what he’s already been able to accomplish in his young career,” Quick said. “If there’s times when I can help him, I’m definitely willing to and looking forward to that, and also whenever I’m in the net trying to the team win hockey games.” Winning matches is crucial to why the New York Rangers signed Jonathan Quick. They cannot depend only on Shesterkin to lead them to the playoffs.  Jaroslav Halak began 24 games last season, winning 10 with a 2.72 goals-against average, a .903 save percentage and one shutout. New York will need the same effort from Quick, should Igor play again between 55-60 games and ideally win close to 40. He started 58 and won 37 last season. “I think it’ll be seamless,” Rangers general manager Chris Drury said. “He’s excited to be a Ranger. A Connecticut kid that wanted to come here, play here and be a Ranger. He obviously knows all about ‘Shesty’ and his accomplishments, and I think he’s ready to take on the role of mentor, similar to what he did in Vegas. We’re excited to have him.” Related News: Wheeler signs $800,000 contract with Rangers
