NFL Predictions: Bengals vs. Cowboys Betting Tips

Image Source A Monday Night Football showdown between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys might’ve seemed like a marquee matchup when the Week 14 schedule dropped. By December, neither team is playoff-bound after disappointing 2024 seasons. But every game has a purpose when it comes to betting. Whether you’re weighing the lofty spread or eyeing the Over on points, this matchup offers some intriguing angles. Early Spread Lean  Cowboys +5.5 (-110 at FanDuel)  It is a mystery why the Bengals are seven-point favorites against anyone at the moment. Cincinnati isn’t exactly lighting the league on fire. They’ve lost three straight and picked up just one win since Week 8. The Bengals’ offense has been productive. Recent point tallies of 27, 34, and 38 are definitely impressive. Joe Burrow and crew are doing their part, but with a defense sitting at 30th in EPA allowed per play, the offense doesn’t stand a chance most weeks. Cincinnati’s defense has allowed 113 points over their last three games. They’re getting carved up, whether it’s on the ground or through the air.  Then there’s the Dallas side. No, the Cowboys aren’t a juggernaut, and yes, they’re playing with backup QB Cooper Rush after Dak Prescott was ruled out for the season. But Dallas has been clicking offensively in recent weeks, putting up 27 points against Washington and 34 on the Titans.  More importantly, their defense is trending up. It hasn’t been pretty all year, but Dallas has jumped to 10th in EPA allowed per play since Week 10. That surge coincides with Micah Parsons’ return, and man, does he make a difference in their pass rush.  With the Cowboys at home and the Bengals traveling to Arlington off a gut-punch of a loss to Pittsburgh, I’m leaning toward Dallas +5.5. They’re rested, at home, and more balanced than Cincinnati right now.  Early Over/Under Lean  Over 49.5 (-108 at FanDuel)  Here’s where things get a bit wilder. If you were on the Over train earlier this week, when the total odds by FanDuel opened at 47.5, congratulations—that was a smart move. The line has already climbed to 49.5, and it wouldn’t shock me to see it hit 50 or higher before kickoff.  And honestly? I still like the Over at 49.5. The Bengals are practically allergic to defense right now, and when it comes to explosive plays, they’re giving up big gains. Cincinnati has allowed 39 completions of 20+ yards this year and six chunk plays of 40-plus. Against a Dallas offense now fully realized under Cooper Rush, those numbers are begging for trouble.  But don’t doubt Cincinnati’s offense, either. Burrow is finding a rhythm with Ja’Marr Chase again, and that connection gives the Bengals the ability to turn any play into a home run. Meanwhile, Dallas’ secondary has been leaky against deep shots all season—allowing nine completions of 40+ yards, the fourth most in the NFL.  Both teams are trending Over this year, coming into this game with a combined Over/Under record of 17-7. If you’re betting this total, it’s Over or nothing for me.  What to Expect in Bengals vs. Cowboys  At the end of the day, this is one of those matchups where neither team is perfect, but both are compelling for bettors. The Bengals’ lopsided approach—elite offense paired with a disastrous defense—creates fireworks just about every week. Combine that with Dallas’ rising defensive form and steady offensive play under Rush, and Monday night has all the makings of a high-scoring, tight contest.  If you’re a spread player, this breakdown of the Bengals vs. Cowboys, complete with NFL betting tips will help you make smarter plays ahead of Monday night. The Cowboys getting five and a half points at home feels like the side to be on. Want action on the total? Over 49.5 still feels manageable. No matter which angle you lean toward, just remember to bet smart, shop for the best lines, and enjoy the game.

shai-gilgeous alexander sends thunder to the semi-finals

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sends Thunder to the Semifinals

The Emirates NBA Cup advances to its last stage with four teams standing. The contest for the NBA Cup and the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award will end in Las Vegas. There, the Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Bucks, and Houston Rockets will compete in the semifinals.  The games kick off in Las Vegas on Saturday, December 14th with Hawks-Bucks (4:30 p.m. ET, TNT) followed by Rockets-Thunder (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC), with the winners of each game moving on to the championship on December 17th (8:30 p.m. ET, ABC).  Selection for the MVP “will be based on the players’ performance in both Group Play and the Knockout Rounds.” With relatively few matches and just eight total matches moving out of Group Play, winning is more necessary than ever in the race for this award.  Below is a look at which players are taking the inside track toward tournament MVP honors: 1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder Gilgeous-Alexander graces the top position entering the Semifinals, mostly for appearing in all five of the Thunder games so far. If his production drops or his team loses, the mantle could pass to one of the Bucks players below.Shai delivered an outstanding performance in Oklahoma’s Knockout Rounds victory over Dallas. His 39 points on 65.2% shooting were from all levels (six FGA in the paint, four at mid-range, five beyond the arc). He also has the stingiest defense in the NBA, and his on-court plus-15.6 leads all players in Cup play.  2. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks Antetokounmpo continues to lead Cup play into the Knockout Rounds, as the injury-riddled Magic discovered on Tuesday. Antetokounmpo stepped into the court and shot 14-for-17 around the basket. He had as many blocks as Orlando did by himself.  Giannis has been so powerful that his Cuo-leading 22 turnovers have had little effect on the outcome. Antetokounmpo has doubled down on what makes him exceptional on offense; a career-high 96.3% of his shot attempts this year are 2-pointers, and a career-high 59.2% of his makes are unaided. He takes the ball himself, all the way to the rim with destructive effect.  3. Damian Lillard, Milwaukee Bucks Lillard is the perimeter part of Buck’s star duo, good to the point that his 28-point, nine-assist performance against Magic felt like a disappointment at first blush. But this was before the “Dame Time’’ that happened in the fourth quarter, with Lillard scoring 15 points by himself to help mellow out Jalen Suggs’ play down the stretch.  Damian’s raw start does not justify what his appearance brings to a game. Minus his 9.3 attempts from 3-point range on 48.6% shooting in Cup play, and how much less room does Giannis have to wreak havoc? 4. Jalen Johnson, Atlanta Hawks Johnson has done the “leap” that had many team executives, coaches and fans put their hopes on. He is a dynamic swingman, one of the most unique and valuable skills in the league. Johnson can score, rebound, play-make, and defend while leading the Hawks in minutes per game (37.3) in Cup play.  Jalen was exceptional in a Knockout Rounds victory against New York on Wednesday. Atlanta was outscored by 8 in the almost seven minutes he took a break. When he did play, he delivered, ending with 21 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks. Opponents should be scared when Johnson’s shooting passes the NBA average. 5. Alperen Sengun, Houston Rockets The Houston Rockets meteoric rise features talent and performances from a squad packed with stars. Alperen Sengun is the reliable hub holding the offense together. Sengun’s awareness of cutters and shooters is crucial for a Rockets side filled with cutters and shooters. His team-leading plus-minus (12.0 over five matches) tells a part of the story.  Sengun brought all his high-IQ play to an exciting Knockout Rounds victory against the Golden State Warriors. His strong fourth quarter- six points, two assists and steal in seven minutes included a score that kept the team going until Jalen Green’s heroics in the last seconds.

trae young proves he is a safe bet at MSG

Trae Young proves he is a safe bet at MSG, rolls his way to Vegas

Trae Young was out dribbling the clock on Wednesday night when he knelt down toward the New York’s center-court logo and pretended to shoot dice. “We’re going to Vegas,” Young said, “so that’s what I had to.” When he is at Madison Square Garden, always bet on him. What he did felt like the 2021 playoffs. The Knicks had been eliminated, and Young celebrated in the middle of their arena.  He had 22 points and 11 assists, leading Atlanta to a 108-100 win in the NBA Cup quarterfinals. The Hawks will go to Las Vegas to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.  “I planned that one with my little brother a few days ago,” he said. “We had talked about that and I mean, I knew what I was going to do.” Young said he did not get a lot of heat like he did in 2021 until late in the game. New York dominated the first half, leading by 12 at one point, but Atlanta took over in the third quarter.

jake haener to replace injured derek carr vs commanders

Jake Haener to replace injured Derek Carr vs. Commanders

Jake Haener is the next man up to play as center for the New Orleans Saints. Haener will make his first start in the NFL on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.  Derek Carr is nursing a left hand injury that will keep him out on Sunday and possibly for the rest of the season, and Haener will be picked over Spencer Rattler.  Haener was the backup for Saints when Carr was absent with an oblique injury earlier in the campaign. Although he came in to relieve Carr of his duties when he was injured in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs, former head coach Dennis Allen gave all the starts to Rattler. Rattler was 0-3 as a starter. Now, Haener will get the opportunity to be QB1.

Marquise Brown gets last clearance to return to practice

“Hollywood” could return to Kansas City before the final credits roll on the regular. Marquise Brown is coming back.  The wide receiver who is recovering from a surgery to repair his SC joint, has gotten final clearance to return to practice with the Chiefs. This sets a path for Brown to play before the playoffs.  Brown, who is presently on injured reserve,  might have his 21-day practice window opened Friday or Monday, but Kansas City will be careful about his return.  Marquise is yet to make his Chiefs debut due to a preseason injury, despite being signed to a one-year contract ahead of the 2024 campaign. Kansas signed him with hopes of getting a deep threat to their offense.

Barcelona midfielder Casado happy Dortmund victory

Marc Casado was happy with his part in Barcelona’s win over Borussia Dortmund. The La Liga giants played well as they won Wednesday night’s Champions League tie 3-2 in Dortmund.  Casado later said: “We knew it was a difficult pitch and they got back on track with the draw. It was an intense second half, but we knew how to play our cards. “We have taken the three points and are taking a step towards qualifying.  “The last few games in the League have not gone as we wanted, but in the Champions League things are going well. “We controlled the ball in the first half, but in the second we were more effective.
